"Thats the nice thing about opinions, each person can have their own unique opinion"

Shall we just agree to disagree? I was certainly not trying to insult you personally, and I apologize if you felt I was.

Fact is: Paying a higher price in EA gives a customer the right to ask for much more stuff : price = quantity. As a customer you dont have a huge benefit of ""playing"" a game in EA, its unfinished, has lots of bugs and missing features. Things you do that early might not work in future updates. But the developer benefits a lot, because he got a mass of people who work as tester for the game, and he has NOT to pay THEM, they pay HIM.
This is a valid and interesting point [up] the community has to pay more to be testers of an unfinished product, while simultaneously making videos online advertising the game, basically working for free for Frontier. And where is the benefit? The beta didn't even last long enough for our suggestions to be implemented.

I have said many times that Frontier is more vocal than most companies but at the same time, many requests go ignored.

Just food for thought: I wonder how people would have reacted if Planet Coaster had launched for free, and charged $10 per update... I am not trying to say it would have been better, just that it's an interesting concept to ponder IMO [cool]

I'm sorry but that is just false. Your Opinion doesn't make that a fact. You pay a higher price because you want access to that game early. The developer doesn't have to give you anything besides that. Everything we got on top was a bonus. They were never obliged to to anything more than that.

Lol... its still his opinion though, which doesn't make it wrong :)

This ^ part is actually pretty factual

Yes, in stage 1 it was so much fun to "play" the "game", I put all the day paths down, because there was not much more possible in that state.
Having something at 10% ready of its complete final state is not a game to me. And you cant call it "playing" if you cant do much more than starting the game up and watching into an empty landscape ... its not like you get the FINAL complete product many months earlier than others do ... thats a big difference for me. You get only an ealry insight of something ... not something you can use, because its not finished at that point.

I still think that I am true, companies have a huge benefit of that way:

1. In EA you payed twice the price of the released game, without having that much additional work for companies to do it. Its like selling doubled copies of the final release.
2. They save payments for internal testing.
3. They get money BEFORE the game is finished and released. In older days the first money you got was by selling a FINAL box in a store which was already pressed on a hardware-medium... today they save even that money, because its all about downloading while consumer dont have a physical backup that runs without internet anymore.
4. The companies get free commercials for their game, long times before release, otherwise they have to pay for that.
5. They can change developing before release to match consumer-wishes. In older days this was not possible, they spended and wasted many time before it was possible to change something based on user-requests. This wasted time costed a lot of money for companies.

So who benefits more at all? You or the company ?

So now, tell me why I an not fine with wanting more stuff, because THEY saved soooo much money (while I paid twice the price for the game) and had so much benefits, I am not allowed to profit ? only companies are ? Hey ... I paid twice the price for that game ... if I had no done, they wouldnt had that many benefit to make a good work that saves THEIR jobe (not mine).

Playing it early doesnt cost companies more money in developing, they only benefit of that.
While in developement they can change things based on feedback, that was not possible in early days. You got first feedback when the game was already released and pressed on a medium, so the first reviews made the point if you had success with the game or not.
You couldnt do much changes after release.

The developer doesn't have to give you anything besides that. Everything we got on top was a bonus. They were never obliged to to anything more than that.

So tell me: what was the content you were told to get for the prize of the game? Show me the content-list which stated the game as being finished.
A developer can publish a game in every state and label it as what he wants.

Publish a 50% final game as "final" and do the rest later ... looks good, you are so "fine" about being scamed by that ?
Companies ignore defined states (EA / Final) today, dont specify some basic-content anymore, that defines what the customer gets for its money.
You buy a game with LOTS of this and LOTS of that, and MANY ... so is "2" "lots" for you ? No ? is "3" "lots" for you ? what is "lots" ?
You order an ice by saying "I want an ice with lots of balls?" ... how should the personal calculate the final price for "lots" of balls if one ball costs 0,50$ ? What is final charge ?

Many companies release games that are not final, because today its easier to make updates, that was not possible in earlier times. So because an unfinished game is released earlier than its final-state I have to be happy to get the last 50 % for free ?
Its like most today, you buy something that has been rushed out of developement and is finished by you as customer ... and sometimes its not finished, like RCTW ...

If you buy a car or a house, there is specifically listed whats part of the deal, if you buy a house with a garage and that one is missing, you have rights to cancel the contract. So again, show me the content and features that defines the game as "final".
You never buy a house wiith an unknown amount of space, an unknown amount of rooms, or something else. And if they stop at 50% without a final roof and tell you "its ready" ... really ? Oh ... I get a roof for free ? Whooohhhh thank you so much ..... thats so kind of you, I love you, youre the best ...

For defining what is complete state of something, you need to define it first ... someone show me whats the final "ready" game ...

Maybe another thread to use my comment as avatar about forum sillyness ... [big grin] I feel very bad that many people dont recognize how they get scammed in live more and more ...

And to mention: My comment was ment to be any kind of personal attack, even if it might sound a bit because of language differences.

I know you speak another language, but that just made me laugh so hard [haha] Ice chips or "cubes" are usually ordered by weight

To be fair, planet coaster has a ton of great content, and the price of the "official" game is very good at $45... its just that I hope the microtransactions dont become a big list of various "scenery packs" when larger DLC packs would just help keep things more organized IMO

Hehe ... yeah, I meant this one:

But specially in germany if you order an "ice" you could also get this one:

Me. I got it early. And for less than half the inflation adjusted price I paid for RCT 1 in a retail box.

that would be like $150? how much did you pay for RCT1? were all your RCTs inflated? Here in the states RCT1 was on the cheaper side

Edit: Oh thought you meant the price of early bird

This is a very good point you brought in !
I think that here many people feel different, because of other contries, taxes and currency.

But cant say that for me here in same, prices for famous games had been about 60 bucks, console games always had been higher prices. PC is now at 42, in EA it had been 68 bucks for me.
But in that days (1995), you got a doubled pay-check, and prices for important live-costs (food, house, energy) were only half that price of today.
So for me I cant say its got cheaper in that point I can maybe say it got a more constant prize since 1995, but it not got cheaper anyway.

At least they dont produce a digital hardware-media, that needs shipping, transports, storage and organization ... that is also a big factor they save today.

Finally dlc - seemed like such a long wait since it was announced [happy]

To bundle or not to bundle, some ask the question:
another personal view:
Though I'm a fan of the "back to the future" movies, the only construction kit I'll be buying is the Munsters one. Though unknown to me before, it is the only one that appeals to me to use in game.
It is for this reason that I'd like them to keep dlc's (like these that is) as seperate downloads. I don't want to spend 3 times as much money while liking just the one --> that would have meant I wouldn't have bought it. (there's lots more to come, it adds up quickly this way, so nope, no wasted money and space for items I won't use anyways for me)
Sure, I understand other people wanting it in a bundle, but to have them available seperate as well is best. So I say: do both [happy]

( I'm sure Frontier's next dlc won't all be cars so they'll get plenty of (financial) support from me in the future )

ps: I like all pieces of the kit but the bat cannon is genius [up]

So you are saying Frontier was/is scamming you? That is quite the statement. What exactly is that Scam?

Give mbc a break I dont think english is his first language [wink]

I don't think it was a scam, but some of the pre-order bonuses for this game were a bit extreme. The $750 foundation stone only sold about 12-15 units. Might have been better to sell more at a lower price IMO the entrances are also kind of lame (many people don't even notice the foundation stone) and I honestly expected it to be a bit bigger. Its cool how Frontier has contests and interacts with the community (it is awesome) but that foundation stone should have been more for the community IMO

When they first announced the VIP passes, most people were expecting them to be a bit more interesting: $150 for a staff pass = quite excessive considering how difficult it can be to find your name within the game. I really wanted the group VIP but couldn't see spending $65 on that one extra so I went with the single VIP instead, why cant PC have an awesome guest editor like RCT3 did??

I've said before and I'll say it again: PC is a great game with a great price point at $45, but the alpha and pre-order items were not that cool. I get people think they are showing support, funding a game like a kickstarter, but if thats the case then new DLC should be better. Thats why I keep asking the following question:

Just food for thought: I wonder how people would have reacted if Planet Coaster had launched for free, and charged $10 per update... I am not trying to say it would have been better, just that it's an interesting concept to ponder IMO [cool]

Nope, wouldn't like it. This style suits other kinds of games better.
I hav had an monthly subscription for 10 years (2007-2017 ) for Lord Of The Rings Online.

But still then (hence why I stopped) it's actually not worth it. The amount of "free" extra's you get for 10€ per month is really not worth it. Just like with WoW expansions still need to be bought, they are not included.

For the die hard gamers it could (my brother is still one of those playing every day) but yet after 10 years paying 10€ every month he still had to buy the new expansion of Mordor for a whopping €79.99. Yeah he got the second expensive one with an extra class but it still makes me wonder why? Why is it not free when you pay 10€ per month for 10 years.

Should have bought the lifetime edition in 2007 for € 290. Then everything after that was free. But it's easy to see why I didn't do that, € 290,- is also a lot of money and I wasn't expecting back then that I would be playing it for 10 (!!) years. 10*12*10= € 1.200,-!!!!

So no thanks, One price is better, after that updates that do cost extra but are optional is a more interesting deal.

I did not mean a monthly subscription, I meant $10 per "large" update, the bigger updates. I meant the quarterly updates that Frontier keeps reminding us are free. So far we have had 3-4 large updates that added big features, new rides, scenarios etc. Sorry for not being clear

Again this is just an idea, not saying it should be this way.

A lot more people would have gotten their hands on the game if it launched for free, possibly hooking in more people and getting a bigger fan base. Obviously each update (in this hypothetical model) would be optional, and once you bought an update its yours to keep. And you would still have your free updates in between the bigger ones

Yes the current way they are doing things is waaaaay better than that Free to play baloney. Iit is not free, you get hassled to pay for things every which way you look. I have absolutely no troubly paying the Money for the DLC because in my OPINION it is good. And yes i am hoping for a bigger (payed) addon down the line. I don't get some people with their entitled attitude. You payed the extra money on your own volition at the time of early access. They told you upfront what you get with it. If it isn't worth the money in your opionion, then don't do it. As simple as that.

I watch a lot of various videos and streams about PC and I know I am not the only one who was disappointed with the current DLC. I get that there will be more DLC, but this was the first DLC (since preorders) and it should have been a bit more exciting.

A lot of people have stated things like "they bought without reading into what the content actually was, and they will be more careful to not do that again" and I have also seen people talk crap about how those who buy without reading are fools, but everybody has the right to share their opinion.

I was just tossing an idea out there but you guys act like I am making demands. I certainly do not feel bad for not buying the DLC or the pre-order extras, but I will say that they are not good because that is my opinion

But you know i wasn't talking about you right now, right? (teehee)

Also, i know you should never blame the "victim"... BUT:

If you buy something without knowing what it actually is, then it is your problem really. They listed everything that was included in the DLC and if you bought it STILL, AND you are disappointed, then all i can do is shrug. And don't sweep under the rug that they had to pay a license fee. So this is included in the 3 Bucks a pop. Maybe next time people should actually pay attention to what they buy, and not just moan about it if it is not what they expected.
