Guest Entrance Rate

After the amazing announcement that we will soon be getting a scenario editor, it got me thinking. What could I do to make my scenarios more difficult? From the implementation of prestige, to the security you have to keep a close eye on, it seems like no matter what you do, the money keeps rolling in. Then it became clear to me. There should be a way to limit the rate at which guests enter your park!

One of the things I loved so much about The Rollercoaster Tycoon series, is that as your park began to grow, you really felt like you earned every single guests who decided to spend their day there. When it comes to Planet Coaster, as soon as you begin building your theme park, the guests just start pouring in!!! For example, as I was working on my latest sandbox on Planet Coaster the other day, I decided to build 2 simple flat rides and BOOM I immediately got over 600 guests!!!!! If I did the same thing in Rollercoaster Tycoon, I would've gotten around 40-60 guests MAYBE. I feel like with the implementation of a guest entrance rate, it would not only be an easy feature to add that would greatly increase difficulty, but it would also cater to the creators who are only trying to give their theme parks a more small town "quaint" feel rather than building the next Six Flags.

If you want you can do it manually with guest limiter and adjust it yourself whenever you increase your park rating by a 100 or something like that. Like for every 100 park rating you add 50 guests. Good thing we will be able to do it with scenerio editor now.

Right I know about the guests limiter but my idea is more about how fast people starting arriving rather than the max population allowed.

If you want the game harder, it needs some balancing. IMO the prestige for rides are not well balanced for Challenge mode. Ferris wheels are a complete waste, while slow car rides are the most popular but since they are slow it means guests are left standing in lines for a long time. Scenery should be reduced in both price and its effect on a rides prestige, and car rides need to be heavily reduced in prestige.

Guests could be less cheerful about expensive rides (I have charged $30 for a ride and guests are fine with it) paid entrance could be another level of challenge, and ATMs could be more useful but maybe more expensive? Also research could be tweaked a bit too.

Then we could add rain, heat, snow, etc. We could have parks closing for the winter months causing guests to leave. We could have more variety in ride breakdowns (including possible crashes)?

You have a lot of good ideas here like rides closing during certain weather conditions and months, as well as disasters like coasters crashing. I also hope at some point we get the VIP system from rct3 as it really added another level of management for me as I was counting down the days till he or she arrived as I was trying to also keep my guests happy.

Just looked back at the slide show they presented and noticed under the "guests" tab that there is a "park attractiveness" multiplier that you can adjust. I'm guessing this is exactly what I'm looking for! [big grin]
