Unlocks?

Sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong area but I was wondering will I eventually unlock more things the more I play, like unlocking when "leveling up" sort of thing? Also, are there community created add-on/assets I can get to add more to my park?

more things will be "unlocked" next month in alpha 3... this isnt the full game so we have to wait and see what happens with the beta in november

There is no "leveling up" in a theme park simulation game. However, if there are scenerios (and I think there will be if it is anything like RCT3) you will probably "unlock" things through research.

Research will probably be in the final release. I always liked the idea of having the rides and coasters unlock over time in the same order that they were invented in real life.

well technically you can "level up" by completing scenario objects and unlocking the next stage, we have no idea how this will work in the full game yet (if it will be exactly the same as RCT3? I think it will be expanded/improved hopefully)... maybe researching will be different, and "unlocking" new scenery themes might require more than just research, could be interesting

yea that would be cool [up] at least for some of the earlier scenario levels

other games use it too, it originated from RPGs and can feel like it makes a game into an RPG, but this is still PC

the difference is whether or not the game requires "grinding" in order to gain XP, which in this case it doesnt

If planet coaster was a RPG, people would be mad as a hornet when they find out their sandbox would unlock at end-level/max-level. [squeeeeee][squeeeeee][haha]
RPG elements could be for scenarios only, and not sandbox mode. Depends on how you guys decide to make the campaign mode work [cool] or you could make a cheatcode

I would enjoy seeing a "career" type mode where you have all your parks working together and sharing research, or possibly something else along those lines... could be interesting as there are so many different ways you could do it

Think a good way to do it would be not have too many rides, shops etc that are attainable cost wise. So you can't build everything from the start as you can't afford it.

Then, as you make a successful small park you can afford to place more things. If your small park isn't successful you can't.

One thing I didn't like about Sim City and Skylines was how cheap it was to build things. You could build a school for $2,000 but in reality it costs millions to build a school these days.

Of course then all the prices in your park would have to take this into considration, not just building items. The cost of rides, coasters, park tickets, souvenirs, food, drinks, etc. would have to be increased to reflect modern day prices.
