General / Off-Topic Jurassic World Evolution - General Discussion

the game looks interesting, but I'm very disappointed it is not an expansion for planet coaster :( huge opportunity lost. I wonder how people will respond to this being on multiple consoles, and I wonder how good the graphics are compared to that video

I was not a big fan of the RCT3 Wild expansion, but I would much rather have a safari expansion for Planet Coaster with animals moving around track rides, as I would not play a stand-alone zoo type game. Hopefully, maybe someday, Planet Coaster will get something similar [up] #FaithfulFrontier

It's not a PC expansion. It also goes to consoles.

Brilliant idea of a game, personally (it has been done before, back in 2001/2 IIRC) and deserves a revamp. The fact the Frontier gang are behind it makes me very confident of its success.

Don't think of this as Planet Coaster being left behind though, however additional IPs are good for cash flow and everything else a business needs.

Who knows, maybe the development from this game will come back and majorly benefit Planet Coaster in the years to come.

Be positive, there's no way this ride is over yet.

Indeed, nobody should be freaking out about this and how it might affect Planet Coaster. Elite didn't suffer because of PC, and neither will suffer because of Jurassic World.

I've fantasised about a proper Jurassic Park sim based game since 1993. I've great confidence Frontier will do my dreams justice. Looking forward to it. In the meantime, if their recent agreement with Universal for Planet Coaster dlc can extent to animatronic dinosaurs and Jurassic Park themed items for Planet Coaster I'd be delighted. [squeeeeee]

It does concern me that Frontier will have another project on their hands, Planet Coaster still needs a couple of things. So I'm hoping Frontier still dedicates time, money and resources to keep Planet Coaster updated, and running right. I'm hoping that this little set up they got going means that PC might get some Jurassic Park / World stuff; like dinos, jeeps, some themed flats. Good luck to them!

FRONTIER ANNOUNCES JURASSIC WORLD EVOLUTION

Players will be able to build their own Jurassic World™ park in the new PC and console game launching summer 2018

Cambridge, UK – 20 August 2017: Frontier Developments plc (AIM: FDEV) today announced its new game, Jurassic World Evolution, and revealed the first trailer. Based on Universal Pictures’ iconic film franchise and created in collaboration with Universal Brand Development, the game expands on the official Jurassic World mythology and puts players in charge of cinema’s greatest tourist destination – where they will have the opportunity to create and manage their own Jurassic World. Launching in summer 2018, Jurassic World Evolution will be coming to PC, the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, and the Xbox One all-in-one games and entertainment system.

“As long-time fans of the entire Jurassic series we’re thrilled to be putting players in charge of their own Jurassic World,” said Frontier’s Chief Creative Officer, Jonny Watts. “We’re excited to bring over fifteen years of management, simulation, and creature development expertise to a destination and franchise that remains an inspiration to us.”

Jurassic World Evolution evolves players’ relationship with the Jurassic World film franchise, placing them in control of operations on the legendary island of Isla Nublar and the surrounding islands of the Muertes Archipelago. Players will build their own Jurassic World as they bioengineer new dinosaur breeds and construct attractions, containment and research facilities. Every choice leads to a different path and spectacular challenges arise when ‘life finds a way.’

The game is scheduled to release next summer and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom will be in theaters June 2018.

Let's be realistic though - the game announced today has presumably been in development for quite a while. We've seen no let up in updates/patches/content coming for Planet Coaster. Therefore I have no worries.

I share the same hopes you do about this. It should be good for everyone - there's a very clear synergy between PC and JWE.

I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for more news on this game. That said, I do wonder whether (or how much) it will affect Frontier's ongoing resources and focus dedicated to Planet Coaster. Yes, I realize they have different teams working on different projects, but when you have two ongoing park sim-type games by the same developer there's bound to be some overlap. Incidentally, Prehistoric and Safari are one of the key...and most requested...themes still lacking in PC. I'm still optimistic that Frontier will get around to them (as well as Spooky, Waterpark, and other themes folks have been hoping for) at some point. Perhaps the Fall Update?

As an avid player of Jurassic Park Builder, I am excited for this game! It would be great to have a sim with a bit more depth, which I am sure Paradox can provide. I hope, though, that they are aware of the different opinions about dinosaurs and provide some options for those that want "more realistic" dinosaurs.

I just saw that man running @ 00:34 and I thought... It's the security guard of Planet Coaster! But he looks like James Stant who is running for Gulpee Rex. But this time the rex is more dangerous.

Cool trailer and I can't wait for more!!
