railway crossing

Hello!

I had an idea for the game. Not sure if its already in it or not.
Well as the title already says, a railway crossing.
So the paths could cross a railway.

Not a bad idea!

So far there's no transport rides in the game yet, they have shown pictures of a transport train though, so that's planned.
Not sure if railway crossings are on their list, but I like the idea. Hopefully that would be a feature we would see.

+1000!
One of the most important feature requests I've seen so far.

I mostly avoided trains in RCT3 because to cross paths, we'd have to either use bridges or tunnels for either. It's not realistic to have those park trains going up and down, and a raised track is blocking the view so much. Real parks have railway crossings.

@Minnion- Planet Coaster is getting a train that looks similar to the Disneyland Railroad steam train IMO... IDK if we'll get it during Alpha or Beta, since its a transport ride... I have actually seen the actual ride pic, but I can't remember where I saw it. Maybe on Google Images under Planet Coaster Rides.

I hope we get this too. I suggested it a long time ago but I'm glad you brought it back up because it's long buried by now.

Crosswalks with those bars that drop down to block the path sounds like a cool idea, bridges are annoying

How about interactive train elements? Like where entertainers perform shows, haunted hay rides, fake train heists. I've been on all different types of train rides, scifi ones, swamp ones, really fast ones, rickety/brokendown ones. There should be designated locations for trains to stop but guests stay on board, or maybe they get off for a minute to check something out and then return to the train before it departs to its next stop (separate from the actual station).

Take a look here, im trying to keep this thread up to date with all confirmed rides :

And certinly +1 for railroad crossings!

I don't understand??
The one i listed is a full sized train i think?

Most all parks that Ive seen use "miniatures" compared to the regular, full-size trains. It's all in the rail gauge/size and or the loads they travel with. Unless a park feels the need to take the entire count of occupants of the day on a single ride together, there's no reason for such a large engine to be necessary.

Miniature, at Six Flags Over Texas
the locomotives at SFoT actually used to be logging trains from like the early 1900s if I remember reading the plaque properly. Buggers are old and still run pretty darn well for their age!

Disney and Dollywood are the only parks I've been to with full size trains. Walt Disney was a train nut and any excuse to have a train. And the Train at Dollywood was there long before there were rides.

And at that they are narrow gauge trains.

That's what I thought too, but without seeing peeps next to it or on it it's kind of hard to judge...

Yeah, I'm just not sure which scale the one the Dev blog pic is due to a combination of the angle and not seeing any peeps in the picture, I just kind of assumed that it was full sized.

Given that Disneyland/World is probably one of their influences it wouldn't surprise me if the train they designed was full sized, though I hope that we get a miniature version too if that's the case... (I have fond memories of riding the Spirit of Traverse City back when it was part of the Zoo...)

+1

Definitely one of those features that would make my jaw drop. Great idea and one of my favorites out there. At first I'd say that features like this would be difficult to implement, but planet coaster has proved me wrong about to many other things. Everything they do is right the first time, unlike some other theme park game out there

They are not even fll size although pretty close. Narrow gage is more narrow and able to make tighter turns. Used in mountains, especially for mining.

Railroad crossings? YES! I was just thinking about this this morning and was getting on to post about it :p

Also would be cool if the guests would stop at the crossing while the train was going by and wave :)

As for full size vs. miniature..Personally I'm a train nut too...and I'm used to the Disney trains, I think the mini ones look kinda childish and silly, so I'm really hoping we get a full size Disney locomotive :D

I'd like both. The big ones are good for transport across a large park. The mini ones are more a specific ride smaller loop around scenery.
