It seem's to take a long time to model out and program a flat ride/coaster.

I am waiting to see what content gets announced before I commit to a pre-order. I have logged more hours in RCT3 than any other game so very excited about PC but so far it seems a little sparse and most parks look quite similar (compared to RCT3 anyway).
Here are some stats for those mathematically minded:
RCT3 - 52 roller coasters - 109 flat/transport rides - taken from http://rct3.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_Rides_(original_game)
PC (4 months since first alpha, 4 months until full release) - 14 roller coasters - 18 flat rides
I understand there are more rides and themes coming but how many? Predictions anyone?
I have a feeling that there is a mass of content that we are not a privy to yet.. and won't be until beta..
Remember, there are a ton of people working on this behind the scenes.. and have been for about 2 or so years (it took nearly a year to announce and then another 9 or so months to release anything else)...
So, the stuff that will be in the game has potentially been in progress since day 1... Some people I've been speaking to seem to be under the impression that content is started and completed between alpha phases and that the alpha contains everything we will get in the final game..
120 people working solidly for nearly 3 years can achieve massive amounts...

"1.how many rides right now do you have in the game made up and looking awesome like some we saw in the dev vids?"
Currently we have ~40 rides including flat rides (amusements) and roller coasters that are up to a very high standard but we keep refining and building upon these as our technology grows and develops. These are still early days. We have many many more planned![]()
but they also have to work on sooooo many other things than just making scenery and rides
I'm not "worried" about how many rides and coasters we'll have, but I'm certainly "curious". Also I would probably count coaster and ride types quite differently than Frontier do...we've already seen that they don't count rides and coasters the way that normal humans do. For example they count the Ferris Wheel and the Spooky Ferris Wheel as two rides; I count them as one. They count a Wing Coaster and a Launched Wing Coaster as two coaster types; I count them as one. Etc. So I'm not really interested in a published number of rides and coasters, I'm interested in the amount of actual variety we get, and I'm not terribly worried about it. I think we'll have plenty.
In the statistics for RCT3, are they counting the custom rides and coasters that the community created or just what came with the base game. Don't forget that there were two expansion packs which added a lot too.
I count each as 2 rides as they are actually two different rides. Using your logic, if the Star Wheel and the Whirly Rig are counted as 1 ride because they are both ferris wheels then the 14 coasters we have would only counted as 1 coaster because they are all steel roller coasters, and to go a bit further no matter how many rides (excepting coasters) we get we would only have 1 ride since they are all flat rides.
In previous RCT games Ive always thought of all the different types of steal coasters as 1 coaster type and didnt understand why "looping" coaster was separate from "corkscrew" instead of just being different pieces of the same type. Theres obvious differences from wood to steel, or spinning cars, bobsleds, etc. But certain ones didnt need to be separated IMO
I also consider a lot of the different themed rides to count as one. A large ferris wheel vs a double wheel (etc) are very similar but they had like 5 different "tea cup" varieties, slides, and drop rides. Anyway, its not a big deal Im sure well have a lot of rides but thats just how I look at it
Didnt previous games have like 60-80 rides? and well over 100 with expansions? Im hoping for about 50-60 in the base game of PC and even more with add-ons [happy]
