Why don't we talk about Shops here?

I'm sure there will be a lot of shops / stalls in the full game.
The only thing I'm looking for is to have possibilities to add products to the shops and customize. I would like to see it better than in rct3.

BUT to make it easy for everyone, I think a button like "synchronise all shops of this kind" would be necessary as welll as "standard"-button

Let's see, what the dev's will bring up :)

I really hope they make a generic "counter" with a worker behind it, and you then can chose what they will sell. Mods introduced this in RCT3, and it made you able to make much more realistic shops that the peeps could actually enter - much like a souvenir shop in real life. You could also make full-fledged restaurants that way too.

The first Generic Counter in RCT3, where you can change the Products, came from Frontier natively with Soaked or Wild. [yesnod]

Interesting topic with great feedback/suggestions. What I want to see is the ability to have shops within queue lines. Just an extra money maker for when money is functional ingame.

I hope we are able to select a price for drinks and food 1 time no matter how many stalls we plop down in the park

agree with you but instead of shops vending machines, you dont actually see shops along queue lines.on this note i would love to see heavily themed vending machines like this one from efteling at joris en de draak.

I just hope they'll keep the style from previous RCT's ! It does not have to look realistic, but satisfying. It's not just a simulation program, but a game, that rewards you with new unlocked things, like coasters, shops aso.. You need to get a feeling of pleasure when having it in your park and see people buying food there!

A big variety of stalls is needed to have that rewarding feeling when unlocking them though.

Look through the stalls section on this page: http://rct.wikia.com/wiki/The_Complete_Rides_List and look through RCT 3's stalls.

How are things unlocked? And - WHY do things have to be unlocked? Can you explain this?

Because of the feeling of progress. If you got everything from the start, it's getting boring pretty fast. There was always research in Rct 1-3, which was perfect. You've got excited just before a new attraction / coaster / shop / scenery piece was ready, and got surprised when it was! It's also more challenging to run a great park with limited amount of rides, shops aso. , of course

(Just speaking of scenario mode, not sandbox!)

I was never a fan of researching shops, I hated not having certain shops like the info kiosk and would always try to get that right away. I like researching rides and certain shops but I hope we have a good selection of default shops that are always available. Same with scenery, we should have any scenery available we want.

In the past, we could be selective as to what types of items we wanted or didn't want to research. I hope they keep that control and maybe refine it a little more.

What I meant here was that in the past you had checkboxes for:
1. coasters
2. scenery
3. stalls
4. gentle rides
5. thrill rides

I hope that it could be expanded to something like this:
1. Wooden Coasters
2. Steel Coasters
3. vendors (like a roving pop corn push cart)
4. Shops and Kiosks (stationary stands)
5. Scenery
6. Thrill Rides
7. Kids Rides
8. Water Rides
9. Shops

The difference in my idea between #4 and #9 would be that #4 would be more like little stalls and #9 would be more like larger restaurants and souvenir shops.

Okay, I got you...I remember the R&D thing from previous games...sorry, I thought that "unlocking" was referring to something more related to the fact of the Alpha status, or that somehow I wouldn't be able to get certain content. My bad...

Yes, I like this.

As far as shops go, I hope they are pre-built, but customizable, restaurants and gift shops that are bigger than just stalls. I would really like to be able to create buildings like this in the building creator. Maybe you could create a building (with some food preparation areas, food stalls, places for people to sit, or even product shelves and tables for gift shops, and then you could use a tool similar to the area tool in Cities Skylines to make it a recognizable building by the guests. This would work really well with Planet Coaster's grid based building system. You could select areas of the grid(s) on the level(s) of your building and create the shop's area only on those grids. So if a guest walks under a restaurant or shop, they won't automatically think they are in it.

Holy crap this looks awesome. it's what Im waiting for. These other shops that are currently in the game always have to be build into a created house to look good. Those simple shops is what I missed :X

I really hope these stalls have micromanagement functions like in RTC3 again. I don't even care if they don't affect the overall park management, but it was always funny to name your own drinks, choose the size, add extra ingredients or make the customers choose.
If that will be implemented with an actual impact to the park scenario (income, happyness of guests, awards) then that is the dream right there.
