day night cycle

Hi guys , just wondering if there was somewhere an option to tweak the day night cycle , i would like to fix it permantely to day time for example

is this achievable now or soon ?

thanks

+1 on this. I assume this is coming along in one of the updates. I noticed that the change from dusk to dawn just jumps if you are fast forwarding. Love to have the ability to just use a slider and pick what time of day/night I want to create in. [up]

For me it's fine like it is as we can pause the game in order to build without being in the dark. I would like to be able to do some dark rides that would work during the day but that's another issue...actually I just wonder in which country on this planet it looks right to close a park at 9pm and open it at 5am? [shocked] (well, I don't consider this as a major bug, just find this a bit strange [big grin])

I am wondering if Frontier have limited the night time phase during alpha for a reason. It must take lot more processing to run the game when it is dark because of the multiple light sources that come in to play. Perhaps when the alpha is over and they have done their optimisation, the night cycles will be longer or we can choose when the park stays open.

I would definitely love a way to stop the light changing from day to night. I find it very hard on the eyes with the light always changing & night time is too dark for me to see things properly. I also like to keep the game running while building things but find it too hard to build at night. So please Frontier come up with a way for people to be able to choose a time of day for lighting to remain constant. Thanks.

It can be adjusted but isn't available to ourselves at the moment. Some the maps have different times set already for the day/night cycle.

I can't see them allowing continuous day/night option unless in sandbox and I feel that the adjustment for day/night may also only be for that but set accordingly for the campaign/scenario play.

Adam

Would be fun to have a scenario where it is always dark. A scenario where you have to build the best park in 6 weeks in the town of Murmansk during the 6 week period of the sun not rising.

I hope that an element of realism can be introduced to the day night cycle with regard to how peeps spend their money.

In the old games there was quite a hefty mismatch because the peeps walked around and spent money in normal speed yet the time itself was faster. This meant that the revenue that a park should earn in a full day was not being anywhere near achieved.

The peeps themselves can't be sped up because that would make the game look odd, so how to generate realistic revenues for the visitors when time moves so much faster than normal? If anything, perhaps these games should be played in real time so a year in the game is a year in real life lol.

So if a person played an average of 8 hours a day just playing Planet Coaster (probably in reality far less) it would take you 3 days just to finish one day of game time, which means it would take you 3 months to finish 1 month of game time and 3 years to finish 1 year of game time respectively.

Obviously that isn't doable. It wasn't a serious suggestion.

However the problem remains. The peeps operate in real time yet the game time runs fast. Therefore the amount that the peeps spend in a game day is not a true reflection of how much peeps would spend in a real day.

I'd like to see a way of making the financing more real. Coasters cost tens of millions to build and big parks would make 5 figures in a day if not more.

You could build a coaster for less than 10k in rct3 yet were waiting for several game months to build up that kind of cash.

Due to the nature of the game, this would never be possible I feel. You either as you say need to play at 1:1 time or similar or have guests paying 500 currency a ride which again is then unrealistic. It will be a balance of monies that make the guest spending seem realistic and the cost of items will be reflected in that.

Has there been any word on the existing parks going to a full day/night cycle? For example the park I decided to work in does not have a night cycle (except for a few seconds) and I'm bummed about that.

If you are simply talking about the lighting side, I think that an option to lock the time at the current setting for sandbox mode would be welcome.

No - some of the original parks did not have fully functioning day/night cycles...and I happened to pick one of those to play in. its always day, except for a few seconds it cycles to night. I was wondering if this park (it was the large ravine park) will ever have full day night cycles?
