Hi,

So, I've had some trouble laying out a post the way I wanted to. [blah]
The issue was (is) that I put it down in steps, with lines of text starting from a different distance from the margin.
I checked the preview first precisely in order to assure myself it would turn up the way I put it. It looked the same, so I posted it, only to find it was messed up.
Not a big deal of course, but a bit of a pity as it wasn't as nicely structured now.

I tried several things all turning out without result. At one point I remembered the difference between 'enter' and 'shift enter', so tried those both, for all different ideas I had.
Am I correct that you have to click on the 'indent' icon and then put spaces in between them until the text is where you'd like it? And do you have to 'enter' or ''shift enter' between lines?
After all that editing it is intriguing me.
Do my edits not go through because I tried too many times so they have to be checked first now?? (and thus that's why nothing seems to work?)
(Do moderators see and need to approve it every time we make an edit? In that case, I apologize [squeeeeee] )

Could you consider allowing the option to be able to delete our own posts. (as long as it happens quickly afterwards).


ps: I noticed something strange : the post above it was also from my hand, but the button showed me offline, while in the post I was editing it was green.

Using an 'enter' or 'shift+enter' does not make a difference on the forums. Some chat programs see 'enter' as a command to send/submit a message and 'shift+enter' as a command to insert + jump to a new line.

No, you do not need to add spaces in between them. You can click the INDENT button multiple times to add extra space between the text and the left marge of the post.
You can click the ^A/A button to view the post without formatting, which will show the BBcode tags. This way you can fix any formatting errors more easily in my opinion. You can also see how the INDENT code works when editing the post this way.

The INDENT function works like this;
[INDENT ] (without space) will add 1 large space between the text and margin.
[INDENT=2 ] will add 2 large spaces between the text and margin.
[INDENT=3 ] will add 3 large spaces between the text and margin, and so forth.
[/ INDENT] (without space) will mark the end of the text that needs to be indent.

Moderators do not need to approve posts unless a user account has limitations. Limitations include - among others - new members, posts that may be considered as spam and posts from users who have received infractions.

Editing posts can sometimes mess-up the formatting of a post, and it can even make parts of a post to disappear when saving the edited post. I don't know why it does this; this seems like a bug with the forum software.

If you want a post to be deleted, then please use the 'Report this post' feature and state the reason why you want it to be deleted. A moderator will then decide whether a post will be deleted or not. Most of the time posts will be deleted when requested by the user.

Will answer the best that I can for your questions/requests.

The forums automatically strip out excess spaces or excess carriage returns. You will need to use the indent bbcode to indent post content. You can also use the [align=left,center,right] bbcode to align text in your post to a certain spot. The other alternative is using the Table BBCode.

Only posts that get sent to the moderation queues are spam-like posts via new user accounts and users who have been naughty on our forums. You are not in either of these groups. There is no edit time limit.

No plans to enable self-deletion of posts. You will need to use "Report This Post" and request for your post(s) to be removed.

The online / offline icon is session and cache based. So there are times where it is lagging behind due to caches, shows your offline when you're actually online. This can be commonly viewed while using the quick reply feature of the forums. One reply says you're online, the quick reply-version of your post says you're offline.

Yep, got that one figured out in the end. Tried putting a number value in there as well, but did not know it needed a = sign too.

Of all the things I tried, the most obvious thing to try out did not come to mind ! How ........ strange. ( avoiding the word stupid [big grin] )

Hi Brett, thanks for your reply !
I knew about those aligning icons, but figured that choosing aligning right would put it as far to the right as possible - as opposed to being able to put it at a certain distance to the right, which is what i needed to make a schematic. Therefore I did not try it, but I assume it is the same on a forum.

I can tell you I am happy that the moderator on duty that day did not have to see all my edits ! It would have driven the poor soul bonkers [knockout]

O, one other thing I have noticed a few time, rarely though, is that when you click reply to thread, it can give you the 'new thread' option instead. You notice it though, so no big deal, but just thought I'd mention it.
