Open Beta????

I was wondering if when the alpha stage is done will they do an open beta because I want to see if I can run the game with my PC( I do no the min specs BTW). Thank you in advance.

I don't think so. Hopefully they will release a free to play "demo" after the full game releases

don't worry, the game doesnt release for like 5 months so save up some money and try to get a new comp next year. That's my plan since my current comp isnt good enough either

what type of computer is it? Desktop or laptop?

brand, model number?

With those you can google the specs and compare it to the minimum requirements for the game!

Based upon past precedent (Elite: Dangerous) the answer is likely no. Those that merely pre-order will have to wait for the proper release of the game in order to play.

Pure speculation but I wouldn't be surprised to see a reduction in the price of the Early Bird package once we hit the Beta stage, the same was true of Elite: Dangerous after all.

Thanks for the info. I hope we get to know in advanced of any other price changes [happy] I'm still waiting on pre-ordering to figure out what I can afford

Hope not, wouldn't be well received by those who have paid the extra for early access. As mentioned above you could post your specs and those who have played the game can give a fair assessment of whether your setup is capable of playing PC ok.

Open betas normally are reserved for online type of games. They normally are to test server stability and capacity before a launch.
Planet coaster is not an online game so it would not require any type of stress test. I would assume they might have a small demo after launch.

Still think the best bet would be to locate the system specs of your computer and compare. plenty of time between now and launch to upgrade a pc to be able to play Planet Coaster!

And as far as paying for early access and someone perhaps getting upset that others got into the beta for free. I personally wouldn't mind an open beta if the game needed it. The more people we can get playing (and buying) the game, the better for all involved with it. Besides, we have had 3 alpha stages that we paid for. What would 2 weeks of open beta hurt us?

BETA testing is not the same as OPEN Beta tests. Open beta tests serve one purpose, to flood server farms with players and stress test them. Check to see server stability under peak loads and bandwidth usage. The BETA that PC will have is quite different than that. It is the final test of all game features to ensure that it is a bug free release of the game.

Planet Coaster may have online parts, but its is not going to host parks on servers.

I don't doubt that planet coaster will have some type of multiplayer functionality, It will not host 1000s of parks on servers. I would imagine any online part will be local hosts, where you invite a friend to connect to your park that they have downloaded. They then connect to your computer directly.

I honestly think Devs need to make a small benchmark tool.
A quick rendering of a pre made park, first with 1k guests, then 5k, 10k ect
