Just to be clear, I absolutely love PC, it's a great game, I get a lot of enjoyment out of it, honestly I think it's the best building/simulation game I have ever played. Today I went into Steam, looking for some expansions to add to it and was watching the Adventure trailer. Look I get it, okay, developers can't worry about every little thing that might offend this one or might bother that one but because I am one of the millions of people who have that particular phobia, you can't imagine what it does to look up at your monitor just in time to see a giant snake open it's freaking jaws right in front of your face.
There's a group of us who play Wow together and three of my best friends have arachnophobia, so there a lots of places where they cringe, shiver or avoid if possible and it took a group of guildies and a month of steeling my nerves to be able to tolerate a certain place in the game where they plopped down some big ol' snakes. Actually Wow has more snakes and spiders than any other game I personally have ever played and it's hard to explain what that does to a person's enjoyment of the game.
But back to this one, when the developers are putting together a trailer, do they ever, EVER, stop to think, okay will that particular image be disturbing to anyone? Is there not one of those talented people who knows someone with this particular phobia? It's a real issue for me and I debated whether to come here and speak up. Listen, all I ask, is that you stop and think about really common phobias before putting an image like that into a trailer where a person can't avoid it. I also hope desperately that if I do buy the expansion, there will be the freedom of simply not installing those items in my parks...can't help being afraid though, that they might be attached to other items and not so avoidable.
