Don't you HATE it when a park does this?

When you stand in front of it you see this and think "Ok let's ride it!!"

Only to see this once you enter?

Ok this turned into a joke but i was seriously trying to generate a long que line to see how much is possible.
Ofcourse the simulation aspect is not in the game yet so it seems like it's just a general rule now that each flatride attracts 200 visitors. Doesn't matter if the ride is open or closed.

So i placed like 6 rides in my park but only opened one of them, as you can see the que line is filling up nice [tongue]

I really hope the final game will make it possible to have LONG que lines just like in real life. Preferable without "cheating" in the way i just did.

That's Awesome! My favorite part of sim/management games is the realism factor - and, we've all been in that line before!!!!!!!!!
Keep up the great experimenting!

Yes but like i said, i had to "cheat" to make this happen.
I hope que lines like this CAN be done in the final version, but without the "cheating".

Altough i guess it ain't easy to do that as it will directly influence the money system. Having huge amount of people in your park will make you have huge income amd thus make the game very easy.
Maybe we should have difficulty settings on this?

Expert - Peepfactor x100%
Hard - Peepfactor x200%
Avarage- Peepfactor x300%
Easy - Peepfactor x400%
Very Easy - Peepfactor x500%

And thus pictures like the above might only happen on "Very Easy"

That screenshot made me twitch as I'm going to experience that next weekend when I go back to a real park.

On the plus side though, that seems pretty close to those realistic switchbacks we've all been hoping for the game to have.

I think the only way to make it happen in game will depend on how many guests your park attracts, and we won't know that until the park management features come out in the future. Hopefully if we as park owners/managers are making the park enticing (great rides, layout, interesting attractions, etc etc etc), then there will be more guests.

One of the most fun parts of a sim game (example: City Skylines) is when you spend hours and hours gradually building an amazing park (city, etc), attracting a bunch of new people, then all of a sudden people start leaving (in this case, tickets sales go down) and you have to figure out how to get more visitors.......

I also hope that part of the game management will be trying to solve problems like the one you "created" - in other words, if the lines are incredibly long, will that result in fewer guests to the park? If so, then maybe by building more coasters or other attractions (hoping things like benches, restaurants, mellow rides (lazy river boat ride), people movers like the train they previewed, and hopefully a skychair people mover system (maybe even a tram so you can built a mountain and put a restaurant or ride at the top).

Anyway - I'm excited for the game to finish, and i'm in no hurry. The Devs are doing amazing - and, I think it's great that you found a way to simulate a REAL problem that we've all experienced. I'd LOVE to have the option of adding signs in the queue stating how many HOURS it is until you get to the gate. "You're only TWO hours from the Ride" [cry]

Indeed!! I hope to see this in the final game as well.
But like i have said a few times now, i used a "cheat" to accomplish this. Just building a ride will not attract this many guests.

Yet i DO think this is realistic and thus i hope the final game will make things like this possible without using "cheats".

Oh. I hate that. haha. In real life that is! But often there's a sign with estimate queue time. But for me it is often showing too short time, 15 min, yay, go queue, but turns out being 45 min. You know. ;)

Will it necessarily be that easy? We are presuming that Peeps don't judge value, thereby risking them deciding to not go onto your ride (if it is pay to ride). I also might add that we are also presuming maintenance costs, in terms of the ride itself and staff wages. I don't know if having lots of guests will automatically mean 'loads of money', to quote Harry Enfield.

worry with this is a long queue line would take a number of 'in game days' to get to the front of, turns realistic into slightly mad!

Of course, none of the guests in that long queue line are buying your high-dollar snacks and souvenirs. [sulk]

I wonder what happens if you attach a shop or two to the queue path. [money]

You know someone is going to make one sometime... And it will be truly epic....

As soon as we have access to that type of tracked ride and spooky theme. Or maybe even earlier. lol.

That flat ride queue is BRUTAL btw. Cerealfruitcakes. Torture. Kiddie flat ride. And nothing else! HA! I won't even go that park. lol.

THATS TOTES AWESOME !!!

I remember queuing up for the E.T ride in Disney, where the queue went from one room to another, each filled to bursting with people waiting for the ride. Just when the queue looked to be at an end, we turned a corner and into another room. We waited over 2 hrs for this ride, determined to see it through. It was one of the worst and most boring rides I have ever been on! Lesson learned [haha]

Is that even possible?

Unfortunately, no (at least not in Alpha 1 ). Queue paths don't accept any attempts at branching, and you'd need that to get a shop to "attach. But it's an interesting idea - refreshment (and spending) opportunities for guests stuck in an endless queue.

In fairness certainly the parks I have been too you can get stuff at a tuck shop like Saw at Alton Towers. Would certainly be good to have it as an option and then be able to theme it to match the coaster.
