Funny yet Charming

Those queue pictures made me think of a few things we need for the queues in game... TV monitors, fans (to cool off the guests waiting in the heat), and (of course) a ride wait time board that can be placed at the ride entrance.

It also made me think of encountering this exact (awful) situation one year when I went to Universal Orlando's "Halloween Horror Nights". They did this exact thing where it looked like the line was short and then we literally ended up in some backstage field with a huge winding queue - just to go through a dumb "haunted house". Waited like 2 hours. Worst theme park experience ever!

Of course, in Alpha 2, you could just put your queue underground and hide the fact that it's a multi-level switchback with day-long wait times. [mouth shut] You could even hide the trip underground with a tiny building that covers the path down and up. It would look from the outside like peeps are just walking through a little shack. Little do they know.

Again, while it's fascinating to watch, no guest in those long queue lines is spending any money. Yes, who cares until we get management, but still...

Maybe, absent shops on queue paths, we could hire wandering vendors to roam the queue lines selling stuff. Maybe not food/drink, since there are no restrooms on queue lines either, but hats, shirts, etc.

Heck, vendors could roam the entire park!

That's how I think as well.
While I like to see peeps lined up for rides, I like to see them roaming the park as well. Spending money, attending to their needs. Their needs get bottled up in long waits.

I try to build my queues to hold a ride and a half worth of peeps. This keeps a steady flow of income to the ride, and hopefully to the shops.
Since rides can only process a set number of peeps per hour, your income there is capped, regardless how many you want to just stand around in line, becoming frustrated, bored, and not spending money. [ugh]
