Animatronics - Alpha 2

While on the subject some others that I think would make for some good additons:

Automated track system for the animatronics, similar to what would be used for the transport rides/coasters, only instead of it being a ride it would be something to add some decorative elements that can follow the people on the ride.

For example: An anamatronic shark, which can roll along just under the water with its dorsal fin cutting the surface, but able to pop up to scare the guests as it's track rises up along side the transport track, only for it to dive under the water and go under the ride track to pop up on the other side...

Other tracked animatronics can include Dolfins, Sea serpants, Rowboats with pirates rowing along, ghosts, knights on horseback and whatever else the Devs imagination can come up with.

I'd also like to see some Dragon Animatronics with at least one that breaths fire...(Which I figure would be more like the Kraken...

I know this is very unlikely to happen, but Frontier should try to reach John Cutry. He is an animator and has experience both in video game animations and real-life animatronics!

If some of you Coaster Head guy could pass the word to the devs, please. [happy]

Agreed. Make the movements more mechanical.

You do realise that these are top of the range animatronics? They have been in development for over 3 years, with funding from 12 different countries.. FDevs have spared no expense on Planet Coaster and hold exclusivity before Disney even get a look-in.

Welp, no, not at all :D. After seeing the video below though, I'm convinced. Although I don't know what you mean with these animatronics have been in development for over 3 years.

I think he was just making up a backstory. but seriously there are ones that are that advanced and more.

There's a fair amount of life-like animatronics out there these days. The short clip that we shown off felt natural, but not 'too-alive' to me. Which is where it should be, no?

I really liked it.

I would say don't be afraid to make old style and new style.

A lot of times the Animations you might find along a Train ride or along a coaster would be very simple indeed, but in a new modern dark ride they would be very high tech.

I love all the animatronics so far. Must... Have... More!

Animatronic movements are getting better and better. The only thing about this one that does make it unrealistic as an animatronic is that he handles an object (the gun) without the gun being attached anywhere. So far, I've not heard of an animatronic being able to do that (although some robots have capabilities like this already.) However, even if it is technically doable with today's technology, in real life, something that is designed to function continuously all day, every day would probably be designed in a simpler way. (i.e. the gun is fixed to one of the hands by a hidden linkage.)

However, I still prefer the design as-is. It makes the world more fun than 100% real-life and I can just imagine that these are super-advanced animatronics from the near future.

P.S. I remember some concept art for this guy with a bunch of variations in appearance. I think it would be awesome if we can customize hair, face, etc. on these animatronics with the same tool that will eventually be in the game for guest appearance. It would be cool to have an army of them but without every one being a clone.

The only animatronic (that I'm aware of) that can grab something is Mr. Potato Head:

But it ain't flawless:

And furthermore, it's an interactive animatronic, that means there is always someone backstage triggering it.

Back to our friend Red Coat, aside from the gun grab and how he has physical contact with everything, the way he moves his right leg back to aim would be awfully complex to build for such a subtle movement. That's why park's animatronics are quite rough around the edges.
I actually be more happy with slightly spoofy animatronics - kinda like when you ask someone to do the robot.

Another thing actually, while I love technical details (oh, really? [squeeeeee]), I fear the blue box will easily become annoying.
