I don't get hotels :P

Hello all,

I am testing a scenario I've been working on that includes a hotel from the get-go but the blasted thing is hemorrhaging money. 100% scenery rating / you can get some stars on it by adding amenities and no one will go near it. I have a ride entrance closeby as well as a scenery viewpoint but yeah, it might as well stay closed as when you're starting a new scenario, you're gonna need cash.

Can someone go into detail (pretty please) and explain how hotels work (beyond how to plonk down rooms and connect them to the hotel entrance. That's all that gets covered on YouTube etc) - why do guests want nothing to do with em?

Cheers [tongue]

I never understood the purpose of why people wanted actual hotels (vs facades) I mean why would a guest want to walk to a far away hotel and pay to rest when they can use a bench for free or just buy a coffee? I have not tested the new hotel feature myself, but many aspects of management seems to be very artificially balanced in terms of gameplay

From what I can tell when guests decide to leave the park (for reasons other than rage-quit), if you have a hotel they may choose to go there instead, keeping 'em in the park longer. So hotels aren't like benches or other energy-replenishers.

I did not realize that, thanks. Still a little confusing... I mean I get how some people use them, but its not my cup of tea [tongue]

...sort of like FastPass, I never use them lol

I've been doing small bed'n'breakfasts, like putting eight rooms in Silversmith Manor. Not sure they're balanced effectively for that, and (thanks to game-breaking issues introduced in the same update that added the hotels) I haven't played enough recently to see.
