Forum Update before release?

I just wanted to point out that this forum is rather.... bland... .There some key features that are possible on vbulltin and are simply not on this forum. The experience is rather unpleasant at times.

Core feature missing that really take away from this forum.

  1. Notification: ATM, there no way to be alerted when somebody reply to you. You can only subscribe to a whole thread.
  2. Automatic quote: We have a "Reply" and a "Reply with quote" option on every post. WHY? Many people click the reply and we have no idea what they are talking about cause they did not quote.
  3. Upvotes: Sometimes, people say very good point and you should be able to show your support without having to reply.

Less important feature but they will make this place better.
  1. Star Ratting on community creation topic: So you know what's amazing and what is not~
  2. Reputation: Basically all your likes combine into a number in which we can find community members for the best content.
  3. Better Emote: I mean, not to be rude but they suck ~ . The Guest expression would be a very good idea as a replacement.
  4. White Theme alternative: Some of us don't like reading on black.
  5. In-Game Browsing: An In-game version of the forum as part of the community features.

I feel like this is something needed to be pointed out if we want this forum to be the main community home.
(I did make sure everything was possible on vbulltin before posting.)

I actually find it extremely annoying when every other post is quoting the previous post before it, especially if its a longer post. I only quote specific parts of a thread to highlight the important part of a comment.

Also, upvoting reputation or star rating has already been turned down by the Devs because they find it discouraging and dont want to promote negativity.

And why do we need a forum built into the game? The full game will have park and blueprint sharing (possibly with ratings) built into the game, thats as much as we need

For once I agree with you, [big grin]

Personally I think the forum is good enough as it is and it suits everything it needs to do. If ratings and upvotes were added to this forum I would stop using it. As simple as that. I don't use Facebook because I don't like the negativity associated with those systems. I think Brett has done a very good job actually in making it look the way it does just now [big grin].

AND YET YOU QUOTED MY WHOLE POST [weird] lmao

...i think we agreed on something before, had to of at least once [tongue]

It was a short post, that's why I quoted the whole thing, LOL! One thing I think might be good to add to the forum if possible is a way to go directly from the top of the page to the bottom and vice versa without having to scroll through the whole page.

every time I reach the bottom, I see the observation tower ride at the bottom of the page, and I instinctively click it thinking its an arrow to bring me back up. I actually clicked it a few times when I first saw it before realizing it wasn't an arrow LOL! I think it would be really cool if they could keep the tower and make it the arrow button [cool]

Well obliviously quoting the post directly above you is redundant.

As for rep I think it would allow user to not miss the best stuff. I never mentioned downvote tho. As the in game browser well it's just that. A suggestion to take in consideration. Like the horrible emote.

But you did not mention the most important one which I have seen requested many time. Notification when quoted.

Also 2 more suggestion. Multi quote and back to top of the page

That how it work. If you don't quote it, you are replying to the op. And using @ get confusing if that person have several post in that thread. It also make whoever is reating having to go back to see what you are replying too. I didn't see the multiquote and the go up and I feel stupid I didn't see it. That said it does show the lack of user friendliness. The go up would be better after the page number. I agree with parkmaker.

I dont agree, parmaker gregor and I all posted in this thread without quotes and we all knew we were talking to each other rather than the OP. not to mention that most people replying to the OP in a longer thread will quote the OP, which is also unnecessary [tongue] typing @ just saves space and reduces the amount of time it takes us to scroll through a thread
