Ride Loading and unloading

Some of the rides load and unload in very counter-intuitive and unrealistic ways. This is especially true in the various car rides where it takes forever to load passengers due to the way it (doesn't) work. In real world rides passengers are constantly being loaded on these people-mover esque rides, while in Planet Coaster people the entrance gates dont open until the departing passengers have finished slooooooowly dawdling to the exit.

Would be cool if they could start loading once the other passangers got ouf of the cars

This would definately apply for more realism and speed everything up a little

+1

More realism?

Then also add:
- safety checkups before departure.
- putting valuables in special lockers (coasters)

Why don't people get this is a balance thing otherwise the game would be to fast and earning money would be to easy (higher throughput).

You are right that there are some real life rides use a form of treadmill (Omnimover) or a round plateau (rapids ride) that keeps spinning. But I wonder how much programming this takes.

Last week I was in Phantasialand and got hushed of the exiting platform of a ride because I was still standing there and this all has to do with safety. They wouldn't start the ride before I was behind the exit gate, so waiting for the ride to start before everybody is off the platform looks okay to me. Then people entering the ride takes less than a second.

So 1 sec is what you can gain?

-1 for me.

Are you serious? This is already in the game, he is just asking for the guests to start loading before the previous passengers went all the way through the exit doors. How come you give -1 for that?

because you want the game to speed up and thus making faster money.

So yeah, my opinion is a -1 for that. I really see no point in changing this.

How about those who play sandbox and dont care about money but dont want lines that get too long and dont want coasters to wait too long at blockbreaks before they can go through the station?

If you have a coaster waiting to long on the blockbrake there is a design flaw in the coaster layout.

And you can still change the max waiting time for the coaster. You still are looking for an easy way out to cut down on the waiting time.

And are we supposed to only react on a topic when we agree with the OP?

Not necessarely, i use blockbreaks in front of the station too so I can use more trains, they dont wait halfway the track or anything.

And what exactly is wrong with wanting it to speed up? Popular coasters always get way too long lines, the loading and unloading takes up alot of time. If they would simply start loading while the other guests have exited the trains instead of the exit gates it would smooth up the overal experience. I honestly dont see how anyone could be against this.

And I honestly don't understand why people are so bothered by this.
They have already removed several realism things that are supposed to happen before a train leaves so the game is already sped up.
Still, how much time can there actually be won as the ride still wouldn't start before everybody left the platform

What did they remove then?

And you do win time because by the time everybody has left the platform the new passangers are already in the seats. Right now you have to wait untill the platform is clear before the loading of new passangers start.

- safety checkups (restraints)
- employees that need to confirm that a platform and train is safe to leave before the ride operator starts the ride

You want realism. So then there is a ton of things that happen before a train departs.

But is it really worth this small amount of time?

I don't think this should be a focus point in any ways.

And that's my final thought about it.

I never knew they cut out the safety checks and confirmation before a train departs, was this ever in the game then or just a plan at some point?

Well ok you can disagree with the point as long as you know there is literally no reason to not want this. [big grin]

There is literally a reason I don't want this.
It takes time.
Other things are of more interest to me.
If they do this, other things won't happen.
That's literally my reason.

This needs to be improved. People in real life are getting in the car the same time people get out of the car! This is a mayor issue with coasters and trackedrides in the game! The capacity of the rides is really to be ashamed of.

I remember someone calculated the actual capacities compared to real life counterparts and your last statement would be incorrect. Looking at real time figures the capacity in Planet Coaster is perfectly fine.

People don't clip in real life.

I think you're misunderstanding Luuk.

Look:

Right now the guests exit the cars, and after they are out of the exit gates of the station, then the entrance gates open and the people walk to the cars

What we are asking for is that when they exit the CARS, the entrance gates will open and the new passengers will get inside the cars.

No I perfectly understand really fine.

BUT:

Then there still would be an restraints & safety check (never has been in the game because it takes animation and in-game time).
So to compensate that they removed the boarding and unboarding of the train animation (they now just magically teleport from A to B over a distance of 1 mtr.

IF these would be in the game then it would be perfectly fine because the animations would take in that time. To still make sure it costs time they opted for the current used options. No animations. Just spawning in and out of the car. THEN they walk this tiny bit but then you don't need to fit in any other animations which would also take time.

Edit: That's why they said that placing the entrance and exit on the right place is so important to minimize delay.

For example the Barghest, which is based on a Gerstlauer Eurofighter. With good entrance and exits and a good block brake system you can depart a train within 20 (!) seconds. That's more than in real life because moving in and out and stashing you valuables takes just as much time.

If you ask a dev why they won't change it I bet he would give you almost the same answer....

Exactly. People in the past compared PC's ride capacity to real life and for most rides the riders per hour in PC was very close to the advertised riders per hour from the real life rides. Dispatch times in real life often are slower thus resulting in lower capacity than advertised anyway.

You will never get a realistic simulation, unless you have each person in a group acting individual, i.e Parents/Grandparents waiting by exits, or groups splitting up. Most Rides will often have spare seats unless there is a single rider policy.

I can understand Ramm's point but it's a minor niggle in the grand scale of things. I am all for a more complex management system but that would me a complete over haul of in game speed. I suppose it all boils down to is what people want out of the game.
