Weather...

Hi Folks.

With it being cold and windy and wet outside, I'd love to see some similar conditions appear in Planet Coaster. The sunny days are great and beautiful, but not all themepark days are sunny. Sometimes a bit of rain, or a lot, can roll in! Followed by some thunder and lightning! And some wind... Snow... Hail... Etc... The guests would run for cover during bad weather, affecting outside rides, and increasing the sale of umbrellas!

A seasonal weather pack would be a joy for this game. Frontier, any plans for this...?

An integration with accuweather/ventusky (or buienradar if you're Dutch [big grin]), so you have real time weather.
Would be nice to have an option to switch between realtime-weather, 'cycled-weather' by PC's engine, and manual tuned weather.

It is a much requested feature, unfortunatly it has been confirmed this will not be added in the forseeable future.

I'm not too fussed about Weather, I love what Jonti (Geekism) pointed out in the facebook group a few weeks back, that when we all go to theme parks in real life, we always hope that the weather will be nice. I'm not even sure where anyone would begin with weather to be honest, like... would we have special canopy's for guests to run under when it starts to rain? would roof pieces protect guests from the rain? some people make roofs without using the roof pieces so would every scenery object become something that protects guests from the rain? doing so would cause so many problems, where would guests run to? would it rain indoors? etc etc...

Its way too much work and would probably break the game, though if anyone has any ideas on how Frontier could implement it in game, then go for it, suggest how :/

They said in one of the livestreams it has to do with performance and due to the complicated way pc works and also that scenery and such hasen't got any collision for this so rain would go thru buildings and scenery, one of the few often requested feature they have actually said "no this won't happen" to thou,

Personally i don't feel that weather would add so much to the game

Weather as in rain/snow wouldn't add to the game but temperature changes would.

Example in hot climates people would prefer more water rides/cold drinks and in colder climates people would prefer warm food/drinks and indoor rides

see, now this I totally agree with :D

Weather as in rain/snow would add so much in terms of park atmosphere to the game.

Weather certainly would add more atmosphere to the game.
That, and the always tempting opportunity to sell umbrellas at lucrative prices [money]

Yes, I agree with this. Weather would add a lot to the game. The older RCT games had weather. I think it would a new element to the game for use to deal with. It's a shame to hear above that this feature has been rejected.

I think that there're LOT of "necessary " and "primordial" things , which are missing , to be added before weather !
And if weather , first thing is to adapt guest's clothing to season and weather ! Cause guests walking in snow and under rain with just a T-shirt is quite stupid and unreal ![rolleyes]

My favourite thing and the only reason I would really want weather for. I would love to do this without it even.

However.. lots of themeparks have fake snow. You wouldn't catch me wearing warm clothes in snowy Hogsmeade at Universal.

Hiya, we've already replied in older but similar threads that weather will not be coming to Planet Coaster at this point.

Cheerios,

It's a shame we won't be getting weather in the game, but I agree that if we can just get a cloud system that changes in lightness and creates an overcast feel and or temperature changes that would make up for not having an actual weather system.

it all sounds nice, and would be fun until the point it starts to lower performance and melts CPU's.

Just try to place a map full of Rain, cloud, snow, fog, etc.. ( need spooky dlc for some of them if i'm correct) and see that CPU meltdown for yourself :D
Weather would be exactly the same, like any other special FX, just on the scale of the entire map... (you won't be happy when it rains or snows in your park)

So for that reason alone i'm glad weather won't be added.
