IMPORTANT: Planet Coaster 1.4 Anniversary Update

Lots of great stuff here and thanks for been listening to the feedback.

Really ahppy to see straight table apart from the rounded ones for the original trailer. The food courts are going to be excellent it seems.

This is honestly amazing! Thank you so much for listening to the community. I'm very excited to play the new update in a few weeks!

Update looks great and better than hoped for. Can't wait for the 15th to hear more about it. Thank you Frontier for awesome work and dedication, as always!

There are a couple of question marks for me though: Are you still not doing any improvements to the path building system? Making nice plazas with a bunch of tables to sit on will be almost impossible if the system is not easier to work it. It's still the games' worst aspect, and I really hope you are planning on fixing it. Also, what about getting rid of curbs on elevated paths? This seems like such a simple thing that should be easy to take care of, and would improve people's parks immensely. There are other things too, but the paths have been such a pain for such a long time... I really hope you decide to fix it.

I agree that getting rid of curbs on elevated paths is still needed, but I feel like the fix to add large plazas is already in - just build your paths on a grid. This works perfectly fine for me and I LOVE this feature, and don't feel like it gets the attention it deserves. Just a little practice is all it takes to master the creation of large plazas.

I think Frontier continues to be excellent for listening to feedback (the removal of the roof of the Weisshorn being a great recent example) and they already did so with the path system. Just my two cents.

If you want a perfectly square plaza, on a perfectly flat ground, then sure. As soon as you start introducing curves or elevation changes it starts to become incredibly difficult. Most of the time you don't want a perfectly square plaza. The biggest issue is that paths (and stores/cuelines, etc) don't want to connect to each other easily. That and the fact that you don't have a click and drag option for the paths.

There are definitely still issues with the path system, for sure. But it's workable, and plazas don't have to be perfectly square or flat, with practice. My point wasn't that the system is perfect, but cool plazas are definitely possible. I'm actually working on building more plazas right now in anticipation for the new picnic benches. [yesnod]

Sounds great, can't wait to see what the UI improvements are. I hope we will be able to set custom snap angles.

Also finally Kingda Ka / Top Thrill Dragster. [up]

I desire more knowledge on the management upgrades we will be getting. Any chance there is going to be a highlight about it before release?

The livestream on November 15 will touch upon loads of them, since that will be a live build of the update.

Of course it's possible, but it's incredibly tedious and frustrating and it's still something that needs a LOT of improvements. The path system (and probably coaster smoothness) is arguably the games' biggest issue. It's also one of the first things you work with whenever you start a new park, and it gives a terrible first impression to players. Either way, I hope they work on It, but they've never even acknowledged that it's an issue, so I'm not gonna count on it.

The things they did include in this update definitely look great, and I think they will bring a lot of value to the game.

Remove the last car of the launch coaster, then put the train on the eurofighter track and we would have had an intamin blitz. So close..

Soooo close. I wonder with the train swapping we will be able to add the zenith train to the euro fighter track to hold us over until a true blitz is introduced

Hey Bo. Thanks for giving us more great news. And again, thanks Frontier for giving us more than we bargained for.

The autumn trees are a really nice touch. I can't wait to play around with the new features. One question. We've been missing an Intamin launch coaster with a more generic train from the get-go and this new coaster looks great. Will we be able to make it invert and alternatively have a normal lift hill, or is it going to be really similar to the Race car themed one, that's already in game?

Either way, it looks gorgeous.

So I thought I’d drop a little spoiler in here..

You may have noticed that there’s something odd about this screenshot.

Normally this coaster cannot invert due to the in-game manufacturer’s restrictions.

The 1.4 release will contain a little gem that I know a lot of the community (who we love and cherish) will love and cherish :)

We are going to be removing some of the restrictions on the roller coasters! We’ve been busy experimenting with making this work and we’ve found that we can provide the following options without seriously breaking things :p

  • All Steel coasters can now do full loops, they can also invert fully using banking.
  • Wooden/hybrid coasters can go up to 85 degrees on slopes, and can now invert fully using banking.
  • The exception is Hop The Gaps which can go on 85 degree slopes, and can bank to 85 degrees which is way beyond its default.
  • The affected parts are the default track pieces – some other tracks pieces that use ride parameters will be able to take advantage of these changes, but anything with specific parameters (like chain lifts) will be unaffected by the restrictions.
  • No tracked rides or transport rides are affected.
The option to remove restrictions will be in the main options menu under the ‘Gameplay settings’ tab as a tick-box.

I hope everyone enjoys the new freedom and I can’t wait to see what madness comes of it!

Much love
Sam.
