Weather

Having different types of weather in the game would be interesting, bar hurricanes and tornadoes of course. What does everyone think about this? Would it make the game more interesting because info kiosks would be able to sell not just priority passes, but umbrellas ☔️ for rainy conditions as well!

It's been talked about to death. The devs have said no, not going to happen. It's actually much more complex than it seems and the current game engine can't really handle it.

Weather is one of those features that I can enjoy playing with or without, but as many have already pointed out, it doesn't look like a feature we will get soon or even at all. Temperatures would be great, though. During the early seasons March, April and May it could be mid 60's to mid 70's, so water rides weren't that popular. But in June, July and August operating months the temperature could be 80's to 100's and park guests frequented our water rides and drink sales increased tremendously. Maybe add a new staff member- Medic, as during scorching hot days at the park our guests could get dehydrated and medics were called to the scene.

And it could have been interesting , ONLY , if the guests changed automatically their suits , according to the time (and not as in RCT3 where the guests went under the snow, in T-shirts)

Too late now. Maybe for Planet Coaster 2

Why is it too late? Ramm I know you really want your mods and think without them being implemented ASAP the game is pretty much done and dusted but it's too early to give up completely in my opinion in certain features being added. It is still relatively early in PC's life cycle (Elite D was released a couple of years earlier and is still receiving updates). Hopefully once Jurassic World is released more focus will be given to Planet Coaster as they won't have any completely new titles to work on (that we know of [wacky]). Weather would be a big thing to implement and they haven't ruled it out completely. This talk of Planet Coaster 2 is a little premature I'd say given it would be years (if at all) before we would ever see that.

One word here - agreed!

Plus the devs might have said NO, but they’re forgetting one major item in retailing - the customer is ALWAYS right...I mean, surely having weather conditions has got be worth trying!

This talk about Planet Coaster 2 is indeed a little premature imo. Frontier still has lots of ideas for Planet Coaster (the current one). The problem that some users are having is that they want the features asap. That's not how things work in development of games, and nor does it work that way with modding.

I hope that Frontier will be able to invest more development and resources into Planet Coaster once JWE is released.

On the subject of weather; it is confirmed in multiple livestreams that weather is currently not planned for Planet Coaster. Never say never, but at least for the foreseeable future it is likely not going to be added to the game.

What’s the difference between RCT3 and PC’s game engines? RCT3 has rain and thunderstorms. Why could RCT3 handle it and not PC? Maybe make it as a toggle though because I believe you couldn’t turn it off in RCT3.

Ok, I can live with the fact that weather may be added in the distant future, but how about giving us the option to have gridlines on our maps or not, that is one thing I liked about the RCT series, you had that option and personally I found it easier to create buildings, pathways and other things WITH gridlines on the map to guide me! Also I would like to see ppl with disabilities added and ppl in wheelchairs. Plus could you pls give us the option (Scenery - not building) to auto-stack things such as blocks or hedges and could you give us the 4m hedge length pls? I don’t normally ask for a lot of things, but these are things that are important to ME as I am disabled to a certain extent!

theres rain and dark clouds in “scenery”. i dont need anything else slowing up my computer which is why they said they would never do it.

Please keep in mind that I am just a volunteer moderator; not a developer. Your writing style suggests that you think that I am a developer.

Let's keep this thread on topic of weather and save other suggestions for other threads. I know that you have already posted more suggestions in other threads, so that's OK.

Besides the game is nowhere NEAR finished yet anyway, they said there’d never be a CD:ROM version of it, but there is, so there might come a time in the next three to four years when we won’t even NEED Steam to be able to run the game!

the customer is ALWAYS right...!

False,

I work for a survey and consultancy company involving asbestos. If we say the room is contaminated and the customer says it isn't, is he really right?
It'snot retailing, but it's the same principle.

No dev or even Frontier themselves have to listen to me, just because I bought their product.
It would be nice though.

it's not impossible to use grids.

The entrance of your park is actually a building. By always using that building to build other buildings and using paths with angle snap (90* and 4mtr width paths) you can build just like you did in RCT3. Only downside would be that rides cannot be placed on the grid, but that wouldn't be to hard to handle I suppose.

What’s the difference between RCT3 and PC’s game engines? RCT3 has rain and thunderstorms. Why could RCT3 handle it and not PC? Maybe make it as a toggle though because I believe you couldn’t turn it off in RCT3.

The only similarity between RCT3's engine and Planet Coaster's engine is the name. Andy wrote that they redesigned the entire engine.

Simple solution to that, get a better processor or completely upgrade your computer.... no offence meant of course!

try saying that in other threads, and you will see that that is not a solution for a lot of people here. [big grin]
