For how long should we expect this game to grow?

Same here. The three car packs were way too specific, and the parts aren't really useful to the casual builder.
I haven't used anything from them yet. However, I don't regret the purchase.

These large DLC packs? Totally worth the coin, and keep them coming!!!
Yep!!! Both the Spooky and Adventure DLC packs are amazing as were all the free seasonal updates!

(I just might have to get the "Munsters" pack eventually though.... I've loved those two cars since I wasa kid!!!) [big grin]

It is a good game from a visual and build point of view, management and tools seriously still lacking and this might have an impact on the overall attractiveness of the game hence they have reduced the price of PC now by 75% of original cost when I bought it.

Is it panic alarms all round I hope not and I hope Frontier will step up the weaker areas of the game and in turn this will keep the stimulation going and attract new customers!

It's always difficult to figure out what's a positive and whats a negative. 75% off might be a bad sign, but you could also think like :

The game has been out for over a year, most of the people who want the game already have it by now. Those who don't were probably not intending to buy it at full price anyway.
Those people might get the game cheap now, get hooked to it and they might end up buying the "expensive" expantion packs now and in the future.

It's not without reason marketing is a study :D Things are not always as clear as they seem.

Like Bo said in the other thread its quite common in the industry, as DLC's rarely gets steep discounts. The main thing which is holding this game back to casual users, is that the game is very power hungry for a lot of casual gamers.

My 6 year old pc which I gave to my nephew a year and half ago, i7 2600k 16gb Ram and 770 GTX, will still blow budget laptops out of the water, even more so if stuck a new video card in it. You only have to look at Steam Hardware survey that a lot people play games on pretty crappy systems.

I am glad you noticed that :)

let's hope they are all minecraft fanatics that way with the continual flow of extra support from new consumers this will encourage Frontier to concentrate on the management/tools side more in the future.

Yes I think the biggest obstacle is the computer need! I think more of my friends would be playing Planet coaster if it wasn't for the computer. Many today have simple laptops.

Just stating a fact. But, it is ok. It is not Frontier's fault people are cheap now with computers.

I, like many one did not buy PC for pure management aspect. We like the designing aspect. It is also cool seeing other players AMAZING CREATIONS, especially when people use objects totally differently than expected.

I also consider myself as a casual gamer, but not tablet/phone game casual. I hate most of those games, because of their microtransactions systems. I prefer full games, but I play them rather casually, not seriously.

I hope PC has many more good years ahead. I like their attitudes, and how they are running things. Unlike Atari, EA, and other companies. Are there things I want or fixed, YES, but I still like Planet Coaster.

I think the 75% off is a great deal, a bit surprising they didn't do 50%, but the DLCs are not "expansions". An expansion would have almost an equal amount of content as the base game, at an equal price. Obviously this is how the market works these days, but I'd rather pay $20-$30 for a full carnival add-on, or $30-$40 for a large water park add-on. The current DLCs combined have less content than the base game, and yet as they release more DLC the price will be more than double the original full price. For an additional $45 I'd like to see a little more content. Is $90 expensive? Depends on the amount of hours of gameplay each person puts in, but there are other things I'd rather buy for this game and I do hope for a real full expansion someday [up]

It would be cool to see the licensed DLCs get a little something extra, like some animatronics of their characters [up]

It's not Frontier's fault, but that won't keep the market from biting 'em in the seat if they don't take it into account.

I was playing RCT3P as late as last year, but that was after a few-years hiatus that ended when I bought a more powerful computer (it's still my most powerful computer, quad-core with 16g of ram, but won't run PlanCo because of its graphics card). I play PlanCo on my laptop, not just because that's where it runs but because I can't sit in front of a box all day, I have to play where I am at any given time, on what I can afford and take with me.

Frontier can't rely on the economy to deliver more powerful machines to enough potential customers to keep 'em in PlanCo sales -- they adapt to the reality we're living in or not. So far, PlanCo runs okay on my laptop (intel dual-core, 8g of ram). The day it doesn't, I stop playing it.

Pretty much throughout the modern computer history software has driven hardware development. You push the existing hardware as much as you can and then have one or more settings further. It will always be a cat and mouse chase. There has t be an incentive to further do development (hardware and software). If everyone only wrote for what we have today, would there ever be any reason to upgrade thew hardware in your computer? We need companies that pushes the boundaries to force development.

PC is now over an year old, most of us Forum Users play the game since the Alpha was released. Now it's a good point, to "catch" more new players just in the time, when they search for new games at Steam as Christmas gifts. I think, i will buy one or two more licences too, that I can give away to some friends. For us, we could be happy if our PC family grows. More players means more blueprints, maybe new aspects and ideas in building and more reason for Frontier to concentrate themselve on the next releases for the game.

As someone that stopped playing a year ago(school focus and playing other games) and then coming back... i love the new additions and changes that they have made. I remember before that we all wanted park management stuff and now we got it though it is not perfect it is much better than a year ago. I hope they keep adding things to the game years from now as well.

Of course games do eventually stop receiving DLC and updates, even paid content.

I’m very curious as to how long we can expect Planet Coaster to grow and receive new content: not only scenery and rides and little tweaks, but with big new systems and mechanics as well.

I often look through the suggestions forums and would like to think that this game will be supported with new content and expansion packs for many years, so that a lot of what we want in the game will eventually be fulfilled. I think playing a game that we know is growing and only a fraction of what it will be in the future is far more exciting.

Obviously the continued development of this game all comes down to time and viability. I know it’s early days (I hope), but I’d like to see some discussion on this, and if and when you think this game will be "finished" as such.

I’m sure the developers have casually spoken about this at one time or another, but I haven’t seen anything personally. If anyone has information or thoughts on this, that’d be just smashing! [up]

First let me say that this is pure speculation but just based on my experience. I work for a large company and although I'm an Engineer I do see some of how these types of decisions are made.

I would take the latest DLC as a good sign for the future of the series. While Spooky was a decent size it pales in comparison to just how much was added by the Adventure pack, especially the animated scenery. I think this is a good sign because it tells us that sales were good enough from the first 3 expansions to warrant a third.

Typically if they stopped supporting a game like this it would be because there was no interest or they were working on developing the next in the series.

Since this game has no REAL competition I don't see that as a factor. Players don't have any competition so if they leave this game it will likely mean they have become tired of park management in general.

I also don't think there is any way Frontier will work on Planet Coaster 2 in the near future. This game already pushes system requirements pretty far so I can't imagine any newer version could be handled by mainstream computers.

I've also noticed by many of the updates I can assume as an Engineer that the game code is written in an efficient way that is easy to alter or change. Many of the updates seemed significant, altering the entire main GUI's in a way that tells me they designed this game with long-term updates in mind.

That's just my opinion of course.

Until that is when everyone moves over to dx 12 where it can multi task on the cores and it would be more efficient for the CPU not just use one core like dx 11 which PC is based on! So I feel give or take a few years when dx12 truly takes hold on windows 10 then more computers will easily cope. However the dx12 revolution will also mean a whole new system for PC.

Okay if we are talking "a few years" then I'll change my opinion that there MIGHT be a Planet Coaster 2.

The reason for this comes down to one thing - VR.

Can you even imagine riding your rides or going inside guests with better VR graphics in a few years, combined with better overall game graphics.

That would be something else.

This is exactly what I did. Since I'm not sitting on money I cannot afford every game I'd like to play at full Price. But what I saw from PC made me buy the Adventure Pack before the game was installed completely [squeeeeee]
