Tag Blueprints with author's Steam ID...

It would be nice if somehow Blueprints were tagged with the creator's ID so that when parks are shared, anyone could see who made what, so if they liked it, they could look for more.

I guess I don't understand the suggestion.

Are you asking for an overview in-game that shows the steam ID (like hovering over a building in-game to see who created it)?

Like, if I used your coaster in my huge park, and share my park, someone else can click on your coaster in my park, and see it was made by Wablamo0821, and they love your coaster, so they go search Steam to see if you have more content.

I just wish there was a way to "link back" to creators, so that one doesn't think I made everything in my park.

It could work like, in the game settings you enter your Steam ID (if you wish) and anything you build gets that added to it's menu somewhere automatically.

How would the game know, I mean is this to prevent people from stealing creations? What if I change 1 little thing in your blueprint, is it still yours?

Now I get it, and I understand it, and I like it. I do have some of the same questions as Creaper though.

If I take your house, adjust two windows, then place it down.. Does it show your ID or mine? Does it show "original created by Jeweler - modified by Wablamo"? What if it's modified by many people before I get my hands on it? (Made by Jeweler, modified by X and X and X and X and finally stolen by Wablamo lol)

I'd like an option like this if they (we) can figure out how to make it work so it does what you're suggesting. [up][up]

I wasn't proposing this for copying issues. Just a nicety for credit where credit is due.

I've been asked for who made things in a park I made using mostly other people blueprints, and it would be nice for that info to be right there, in game, rather than me having go back through all the things I've subscribed to, to find the creator, to pass that info along.

If the Devs like they idea, they can sort out what happens when you change a window out. [wink]
Personally, I think the original creator name should stay.

Great idea. +1000 [up]

IMHO they would just have to add the Steam ID of the one that modifies it to the list. So you can see everyone that modified it since the original author. It's how attribution works commonly.

how about if each individual piece had a great big water mark that said produced by frontier with some of the devs names on it, so that each time somebody loads up a blueprint, we can all be reminded of who originally created it... lolz

I just dont see that something like this would ever work, theres been discussions about "ownership" already and the consensus is we don't own anything within the game, and if we chose to share it then its everybodys to use. if you want credit for something unique, make a youtube page to show off your designs. thats what any top designer does anyway

I'm sorry but that's not true, you can see the whole post in the Community Creations additionally you should read the Steam Workshop's terms of use.

1st. You can only upload to Steam Workshop something you created (from scratch without copying anyone) or the author expressly authorised you.
2nd. You can always ask for attribution.

So having a "forced" tag with the author's ID is the perfect solution.

it still doesnt cover the instance of somebody taking your creation and slightly modifying it

also, if Im viewing your park am I going to see a bunch of different peoples names hovering over each building?
