New update?

I'm just saying, is Plane Coaster about amusement parks and rides, or is it about architecture? Obviously architecture is a big part of this game, but theres tons of games that offer construction and buildings and such. I dont get why somebody who thinks summer fun is icky would play a game about theme parks expecting anything but summer fun... just seems illogical. And yes I get the whole halloween aspect, like I said I enjoy gothic stuff, but we already got a spooky pack and I dont think it would be wise if the devs strictly focused on one month out of the year. It wouldnt be a good business model if your trying to reach a mass audience.

You don't have to get it. Summer isn't fun for me. I don't expect everyone to understand that. I don't expect to necessarily get what you like about the game. That's what's cool about PC it appeals to a lot of people for very different reasons. I'm not dissing your or anyone's reasons, and doing so to mine is a bit rude.

I am not suggesting they 100% focus on any month. Though for some of us, everyday is Halloween.

Let people like what they like.

I'm talking about whats going to appeal to a mass audience and make a lot of money for the developers, which is why a water park would be a good idea because its a popular request. I just dont understand why you keep saying things like icky summer fun is dumb and how water parks are not what you want, like did you even play RCT3? water parks were very popular to many players but the current focus of DLC has been pretty lackluster to many fans of classic RCT, and I just dont get why people would buy a theme park game and not expect one of the most popular aspects of theme parks to be a part of this game

I am not saying they are dumb. Apparently you did not read or comprehend my original post in this wave of this thread. I am saying they aren't for me. I don't want water parks personally, because they don't interest me. I am not saying they wouldn't be a good idea because they might be popular, in fact I said the opposite. I said whatever they do if it's good for the game is fine by me even if it isn't something I am personally interested in. Actually, I did not play RCT3. I guess that makes me a scrub. Boohoo. I have been playing videogames since Pong was the hot new thing. I don't go to parks so RCT games never particularly interested me until I found out about PC and the spooky pack and bought it because I was sad about taking down my IRL outside Halloween stuff.

People play this game for different reasons. Stop trying to gatekeep, it's boring and tedious.

Again, let people like things.

Yet again, I am excited about the new Update even if it's not something to my tastes because it means the game is still getting updated at all. I want PC to have a future, for all of us, no matter what our interest is here.

I also wonder if we are getting a 'midway' type update with the claw machine and such. I hope the vending machines help with the thgirty guest issues without a lot of staff overhead.

If there is a Midway games DLC, it would be really nice to bring some new career scenarios for a change too. If done right, they could be rather interesting.

It is the focus of the game for me. It is the focus of the game for others as well. I never said it should be the focus period. I would be happy if more management/gameplay stuff was added even if it wasn't something I personally would spend a lot of time with. You are in no position to proclaim what the focus of the game is. Neither am I. Unless you are a high level exec. at Frontier then I imagine you'd be doing things internally, yes?

Improvements, even in areas you aren't necessarily excited about, are improvements none-the-less. Just because it isn't improving for YOU does not mean it isn't improving. If you are so very disappointed you can move on, or make suggestions in the correct board. Fight for what you want but don't discount others who want something else. Your desires are no more valid than theirs.

Also my 'outfit' is not me. It is an expression of me. I have been a goth for over 35 years. That whole, just want 'attention' thing does not work.

To stay on topic nominally, I am excited about the update even if it is sunny, sandy beaches and fluffy bunnies who lack fangs. If it makes other players happy and excited and inspires them to keep creating, then faboo.

I look forward to doing some fun skins on the games.

I wasn't expecting this update at all. I do like the fact we can recolor staff now. Its a great addition. But the community so badly wanted a summer update. Except for the oddly 2. Its a missed opportunity. I'm not excited at all....

Yea, but maybe there is more to announce? And frankly, staff recoloring is being quite hyped (and I´m happy it´s possible now), but this is feature that should be humbly mentioned in fixes. If you can say that anything should have been in the base game already, staff recoloring is one of these features. Here, it´s being presented like something great, new and FREE (look, how awesome Frontier is). This updates, more than ever, feels like they put it quickly together just so they can point and say, see we update the game for FREE. I believe this is the smallest update we will get actually. So I hope it´s compensated with nice amount of fixes and QoL.

But maybe it´s too soon to judge.

I've seen afew comments saying.. no one asked for vending machines and claw machines. I would like to disagree on that. I have seen vending machines asked for quite a bit. Usually along with being able to put shops in the queue lines.

The claw machines.. well there are plenty of these on the workshop made out of scenery pieces that are non working so I would think its something thats wanted as well

I am personally happy with these additions. I know.. me Mr. Negative over here actually happy with something. Plus.. I tweeted Sam the other day and found out for a fact the Fairytale roofs are fixed in the new update which also makes me happy. I have no idea whats in the DLC> I don't wnt to speculate. and I don't want to overhype myself. But I like the free stuff so far. I think they could have worked on somethign different other than filters.. but. I don't know.. I will try them out and play with those.

I definitely am not happy with the vending machines working like ATMs with a queue line I'd rather them be like trash bins you can place at random it would add more flexibility and I will probably rant about it at times when I need them to be more flexible and they aren't just like a few other things. But hey. I actually like them. I think they are cool and a nice addition.

Again.. I'm totally not going to overhype it though til I see for sure what the DLC is and I really hope its going to be some awesome stuff that the majority asks for. I do not think it will be water park, or anything like that. I also don't think it will be midway games either from how Sam said the claw machine opens the door up for future possibilities. I also am glad its NOT Jurassic Park stuff. That kind of thing would be great.. later. but not now when there are other things needed. IHalloween has been always been my favorite holiday. I can think of a ton more spooky things I'd like to have or dark ride related stuff.. but both Spooky pack.. and Studios featured dark ride stuff specifically so it's time to go a different direction. I wouldn't HATE some sort of really creative awesome spooky/dark ride thing but I just want more generic things right now

But do finally think its a step forward in fixing the game. it sounds like we may get a lot of bugs fixed that we've been complaining about for awhile.

I've seen a lot of requests for functioning vending machines and midway games. However, I don't think people expected those to be the main feature of an update. I think the biggest request people have is actual improvements to the game. To improve the user experience. vending machines and midway games are cool, but they do not improve the game. They are just one other thing you plop down and forget about.

I agree.

I can see why this update is here, someone else already mentioned it. The vending machines are there to reduce staff costs if needed, but probably will have an breakdown rate and are easy to vandalize.
Maybe they need refilling once in a while.

People saying that it wasn't requested is more due to the fact they didn't get what they requested. I can get that, because everybody wants their idea to be picked first as they feel it is the best idea.

As for bug fixes. It would be nice to have those too so maybe there would be less complaining and the atmosphere here would get better.

I will wait and see what the DLC is, so I won't be dissappointed if it doesn't turn out to be what I expected.

Oh... hmmm I never thought about vandals with the machines.. That would be interesting. And give the repair guys something else to do to keep them from getting bored when they aren't already supposed to making sure my coasters don't break down every 10 minutes. (They still break down to much)

I actually do think we are going to get quite a few fixes this time. more than 1.6 did. This is what we need more than anything else. Is it a QOL update. No.. but I think .. I hope.. it might be close. When Sam replied to my tweet. It sounded like theres going to a nice fix with this.

Some things though I don't think will ever be fixed. Such as coaster smoothness, and Prestige (Flat rides being basically useless with a decent coaster in the park. which got worse with the last update doing something to the prestige ratings)

There was something Sam said in the video today that peeked my interest about how they finally have time to work on Planet Coaster or something to that regard. I can't remember how exactly he said it but It sounded good.

100% agree with this. Not being able to place a bunch of them side by side looks really silly. Most vending machines at parks are usually in groups right next to each other.

I think this is one of the main issues with the forum since day 1, people are too quick to judge. We know there will be more announced next week, free or not, more will come. We also know, based on interactions with developers and other Frontier staff, that there are more bug fixes coming that has yet not been mentioned (or won't be at all until the update notes). One example are the fairy tale roofs.

We are now over two years into the game and people still expects massive free updates? At this point of any game's life cycle you normally get nothing, maybe a brand new installment if the previous was a success. Both staff recoloring and vending machines are items that has been heavily requested and they are coming as an update/fix to the game to everyone. Is it at the top of the list for everyone here? No. No update will be but this seems to be a solid addition that will make a lot of people happy. I think we won't get any more major free updates, "just" bug fixes, QoL improvements/changes etc. for free. Paid DLCs will keep coming as long as people are buying them. When that happen I think Frontier's next move will be to release a sequel to this game.

I can´t wait for:

1) people start complaining that they cannot play the crane machines
2) people start to complain there is not more similar stuff to crane machines
3) for good god, I can´t imagine how will people react if the DLC is not actually the midway/carnival DLC. Some people started to hype it like it was announced (it should have been announced with the free update honestly, just to avoid this kind of reactions).

I don't agree with you a lot MR.sugar, but I think you nailed this post. This is exactly what is going to happen once the DLC has been released, or even shortly after it has been announced.

Yes, it was always like this: People make their own DLC in their Head, and when it doesn't match it, there will be disappointment.

I have seen it happen before.

BTW this applies to the free updates as well. There will be people yelling "should have been in the Game in the first place".

If that happens, the world is in a much worse state than I thought it was.......

I think we all should be glad that they are still giving us free updates and DLC's. Even if the new free update/DLC isn't exactly what we thought it would be it still adds something to Planet Coaster. I think going forward the free updates will be small and the DLC's will be bigger that is just my guess. I'm happy that Frontier is still updating Planet Coaster which has so much to add. I also agree with Bo that we should all be nice here on the forums. We all have different ideas for Planet Coaster we should respect that. That is why there is a suggestion and ideas section of the forum.
