Problems with the Magnificent Rides DLC

Hello all!

First of all I want to express no hate towards the Planet Coaster team in any way. I truly respect them and I find them to be one of the best teams in the industry right now.

Even though they delayed the release of this new rides pack, because there were some critical bugs, I find the pack to be a little bit disappointing. Especially the roller coasters. Why? Well here's my argumentation.

NOTE: There's a bug when you place a piece of track in a certain way, the next piece gets reformed and it's a pain to always re-edit the banking to the normal positions.

The first problem I have is with the SLV, why isn't there a launch from the station? Or just a regular launch? You forgot half the amount of possible content here frontier! Look at the Scharzkopf at Alton Towers, or Psyké Underground in Walibi Belgium!

Secondly, why can't the Vector train be put on Barghest track? I tried to do so because the game doesn't let me launch on a slope over 20° which is just complete rubbish in my opinion. You did the same with the Bobsled Coaster in the Vintage DLC (8M Track-pieces only). This to me feels very unpolished and it doesn't give us the freedom we need to create certain rides (e.g. what if someone wants to remake the upcoming Copperhead Strike? They can't, which is a shame since that also is a Mack-type launched coaster)

These are basically 3/3 main reasons I bought this pack for (I hardly use flats or tracked rides, so it was really for the rides that I bought this pack), and going in-game and seeing this just makes me very sad, because I forked over 11 euros from my hard-earned cash for a pack that I'm now probably not going to use.

Greetings,
Matt

While in your opinion these are major problems, for me they are rlly small, i'm actually really happy with this dlc and even could get a use for the chairlift, that i wasn't to happy with before, when announced. These are definitely problems for some players, but Frontier is a community that listens to their fan base and they will probably see this thread and put your ideas in the game[wink]

I hope so, this is a real bummer for me. It would give the pack just that little extra punch.

I think this is more of a general problems of some rides, not exclusive to this DLC. Some restrictions are annoying and I don't see why they are even here. I would expect better from the paid DLC, but hey, maybe they will fix it. At least the chair lift seems to be great addition. I think that ride actually kinda opened a flood gate for other stuff, such as elevators maybe :)

I agree with many of the suggestions made here and hope that some will be made.

Do remember there is a warning at startup that the rides in the game do not resemble any real life rides.

Of course we suggest real life rides and they make their version of it.

They never say what ride it really mimics. We do that.

I think within the currentnengine they dont have a way to launch from the station. None of the coasters fo that.

Like said. I dont disagree with you and would like to have much more freedom on building coasters with all options of elements and utilities on every trackstyle. But with the current engine it might not be possible. Therefore the warning at the start to give them someway to explain the differences with real life rides.

I think this is not engine related. It's related to fame mechanics, but not engine. I honestly think if they managed to do chair lift, this shouldn't be a big problem for them.

True. But maybe how much we want it to be a Schwarzkopf, it may never actually be a Schwarzkopf, but it will always be a SLV. Due to limitations.

I hope the chair lift is the beginning of different types of mechanics in game, which would create new possibilities, but I don't expect them to do a complete revision of the older rides that already are in the game.

Yea, I don´t see that happening too.

Yeah I get that these aren't the same rides as in real life, but I don't care about the realism of these rides. Like you said, for me it's about these restrictions that just destroy the experience.

Would love to see them redo the station for the rapids ride to be round and moving[wink]
But of course we don't know if they will ever change older rides[big grin]

Yeah, I'm a little disappointed by the rides, too. Can't swap any other trains onto them (Sorry people who wanted to make Mack Big Dippers with the new Vector. However, it seems most trains clip with the station, so this is probably why.) Also slightly bummed about the lack of thick spined segments for the Mack/Vector. The SLV gets a bunch of track variations, but the Vector can't get it's nice thick spined track. [sad] I am glad that they got the track style for the launch correct, though.

Also the banking issue is a bit annoying.

I’d like to see them look back at rides and content added in the past (from DLC as well) to see if there are more ways to improve them or make them more realistic, or give us further options, rather than just adding new content every 3 months.

I would like to see them doing this, also 'unskin' some previous rides. I don't know the flatride by name (not going to check as the game keeps crashing on me since update) but that magic carpet styled one could use less theming so we can use is as a disk'o coaster.

Regarding the slv, if there is allready an option to change the ejection speed out of the station, it shouldn't be that dificult to enable a higher speed and add an acceleration rate slider.

My main problem with the new DLC is that I don't think I'd get any enjoyment out of using any of the new coasters with the coaster smoothness still not being sorted, we're unfortunately still forced to use those wobbly janky cameras (I hate watching a log flume cam go down to a dummy or NPC's knee's, its annoying, also happens on the wing coasters) tbh... everything Frontier does always looks nice, beatiful in fact, but I just cannot see myself enjoying this pack until we get new camera's on the coasters or better coaster building. Perhaps they're working on it as we have "smooth height" and "smooth turn" added into the previous update, but cameras man... guuuuh

I use to love Planet Coaster so much and went back and forth with how I felt, because people made a lot of good points, a friend said to me the attention to detail was great and I learned to appreciate the game a little more, but with the last DLC, I call it the "World's Shop Pack" because its mainly based around the shops (seriously, the only japanese scenery pieces in that pack are for the haya sushi shop) and the Qin Dynasty roofs still haven't been fixed, even thought Frontier said they had fixed them. With this newer pack, some people have been "this is what everybody has been asking for" I don't think at any point when people requested the Schwarzkopf coaster, that they meant they wanted to see it in a DLC that they had to pay for, I think they meant that it should have been there from the start as it had been in previous games.

But yeah, this new DLC, not really feeling it at the moment, I might consider "supporting" Frontier and buying it when some kind of news about coaster smoothing pops up.

I havent bought the pack yet so could anyone tell me if the coasters that come in the pack are pre-built and custom or just custom. Thanks

I tried to do so because the game doesn't let me launch on a slope over 20° which is just complete rubbish in my opinion.

Which is funny, because the tooltip when you can't build it says "Must be built on a straight unbanked piece of track between -90° and 90°. So they should either fix the tooltip, or change the limits on the LSM so it matches the tooltip. ;)

I didn’t even think about that but you’re absolutely right! Yeah they should fix that definetly.

It´s so ironic that Frontier uses "reality" as an argument for the restrictions they inflict on building functions, but those restrictions constantly go against the realism so many players are asking for since day one.
Please overhaul the whole coaster building aspect of the game!

I don't see them overhauling their whole coaster builder any time soon :(
