The fact progression is way too fast already has the effect of making the game way too carefree. Why should you care about losing your ship, when you can make hundreds of millions in a matter of hours. And this leads to nonsensical gameplay, where instead of roleplaying risk-averse commanders who try to survive in a cut-throat galaxy, we see our spaceships as disposable assets since it has become virtually impossible to lose money, and money is all a rebuy costs.
Although in a way elimiating rebuys is the next logical step to catter to ED's new target demographic I guess.. but then why stop there. Why just the weekend, and why not just run with it and remove all obstacles to immediate and minless fun, because that is what such suggestions are leading to, is it not?
