An apology to FD - old explorer mechanic IS still there!

Okay. If you say so. Not that any if those examples make a mockery of other mechanics.

There is no loose lore reason to make it make sense. Simple as that.

Explain to me how a federal system can be under the rule of an imperial PP. Explain to me why I can't copy the data I have gathered. Explain to me why the commodities market only buys/sells some elements while others note. Explain to me why I can't stack FSD injections with neutron star boosts.

No it doesn't make complete sense, but it's a hell of a lot better then having both systems on the ship at the same time and can be explained somewhat with lore, but that's irrelavent. That mechanic doesn't make a mockery of any other mechanic. It's useful for people to know whether someone has already been there before.

You are gasping at straws and using examples which bear no resemblance to what I am saying.

What "lore"? Your lore?

Irrelavent as they do not effect any other mechanic. I can easily ignore powerplay when doing the BGS. In fact I don't even notice it's there. I will do if the ADS functionality is there with the FSS. It will kill it for me.

While I do agree that they do not make much sense and a lot doesn't in ED none of those effect any other gameplay mechanic.

Ermm, yes they do in fact affect each other as you described, it makes one mechanic seem silly in comparison to another one. They don't "affect" directly each other but so does the ADS and FSS.

Because...
I do not need a because. They just don't. How does powerplay make the BGS look silly and how does the BGS make powerplay look silly, how does doing BGS work make powerplay work irrelevant? They don't tread on each others shoes, they do different things, they are seperate abstract layers that hardly have any interaction with each other.

What makes powerplay look poor is the implementation of powerplay not the BGS. Either make powerplay a completely seperate layer on top for PvP, or integrate it fully into the BGS and make it PvE with some PvP like the BGS. But they do not tread on each others shoes currently, but in my view they should be much closer intertwined with BGS factions, and agree that a Fed power should not be able to enter control an Empre run system.

But just because those mechanics do not make sense with each other, it doesn't make them pointless as they do different things.

The old ADS does in 5 seconds what you are meant to do in the FSS so making the FSS seem like a pointless excersise if the ADS functionality is returned. I don't do BGS work for my faction which does powerplay work at the same time and then having to powerplay work on top to get the same result, it doesn't work like that.

You: I have found a wonderful system.

Me: Cool, where is it?

You: In the milky way.

Me: sight
Lore means in computer games: The collective history and the sum of all knowledge available about a certain fantasy or sci-fi universe. In this case ED lore. It's everywhere in the game you play. You can completely ignore it if you so wish, that is your personal choice.

Personally I find games with strong lore and good gameplay elements make the best games.

I am beginning to think there is some interpretation issue here.

I have played a little over 1500 hours in ED and I definetly did not choose to ignore the lore. If you can't give an example of the vast "lore" that justifies that nonsense then I really think you are making things up.

Will people stop asking for the ADS to come back? It won't, ever. This is pretty much set in stone now, it would negate the game. The god honk was always a stupid, placeholder mechanic. It's led to so many complaints over the years. And it was boring.

Whatever your feelings The ADS isn't coming back. Lets please stop these repetitive arguments please.

No? Oh alright then, carry on. ¯\(ツ)

I already said why.

Indeed, the same goes for the ADS and FSS, they both do different things and can be though of as different abstract layers.

But they do not tread on each others shoes currently

And neither does the ADS and FSS.

But just because those mechanics do not make sense with each other, it doesn't make them pointless as they do different things.

And so does the FSS and FSS. One gives you the layout, the other gives you the actual scan of the celestial objects.

No, because they do not do the same things.

Is that you playing as a clairvoyant or do you have a source for that?

But they are not. The whole idea of the FSS is to find what is there. If you have already found it with the ADS what is the point in finding it again in the FSS. There is no different abstract layer.

And neither does the ADS and FSS.
Yes they do as has been explained a plethora of times.

And so does the FSS and FSS. One gives you the layout, the other gives you the actual scan of the celestial objects.
AGAIN. WHY DO I NEED TO FIND WHAT IS THERE IN THE FSS WHEN THE ADS HAS ALREADY FOUND IT?

No, because they do not do the same things.
The FSS fills out the system map and so does the FSS.
AGAIN. WHY DO I NEED TO FIND WHAT IS THERE IN THE FSS WHEN THE ADS HAS ALREADY FOUND IT?

Why do I need to do the finding in the FSS of the celestial objects when the ADS and nav computer already knows their precise locations. Why can't you see the massive logic flaw there.
