Are there any Desert ELWs (Tatooines)?

They may not be classified as ELWs in Elite but are there any desert planets that are similar enough to earth in atmosphere composition, pressure, temperature (surely a bit hotter), and mass? In the far future if and when we have atmospheric landings and maybe some other functionality with planets I'd like to make my home on a desert planet.

Surely a Tatooine (or Arrakis) wouldn't actually be classed as an ELW?

I'm sure half of the currently landable planets would qualify as "desert planets" if they had atmospheres though.

Bring on the Sandworms!

Yes... sand worms...

I suppose I should say, I wish temperature was more of a consideration in ED.

When was the last time anybody actually noticed the temperature of a planet they landed on?

Might be nice if ED implemented the same "freezing" and "cooking" graphics for SRVs that we have in our ships and, even better, set it up so the SRV moves slower on cold planets (due to poor battery performance) and took heat-damage if you drive fast for long periods on hot planets.

It should be a bigger deal if/when atmospheric landings comes, along with pressure. That info should be front and center to players before deciding to go down to any planet. Descending to planets with extreme conditions should give you an indicator and warn you if you choose to proceed. Certain planets would definitely cause our ships to implode or melt from huge temperatures/pressures if you ignored warnings.

Fair point, OP. We think of an earth-like world as being lush and green, but what if the atmospheric conditions are just right, but the terrain and geography result in a drastically different type of world than the blue and green we have. Fingers crossed for the future, I suppose.

Tatooine was in the beginning stages of terraforming. Luke's family ran a small moister farm. I guess in ED lore that would make it a terraformable HMC world?
Tatooine was a useless, resource-barren, desert wasteland back in the days of the Old Republic, many many centuries before the current-era SW galaxy. It's always sucked to live there.

I've a feeling that Tatooine would probably be classed as a high metal content world that just happens to have a nitrogen/ oxygen atmosphere. It might be difficult to achieve that given that on Earth, the oxygen content came from early plant life.

If I remember my SW lore correctly though, Tatooine is supposed to be a very old world, so it's possible that as the local stars have expanded, plant life hasn't adapted quickly enough and died off (or was there some cataclysmic event? Can't remember).

Can't see why this couldn't be replicated in ED if/when atmospheric landings come about.
