Alliance Challenger build critique

Hi. This is my Haz Res manufactured components harvesting built.

I was wondering if you can critique it and offer advice on how I can improve it.

For the load out went with long range on the laser so I can keep my distance whilst I strip the enemy of it shields once they are down I fly in close and demolish them with the Frag Cannon while my turret MC applies the corossive effect for increased damage.

Looks pretty good to me. Just no defence against gimbals/turrets (Chaff) or missiles (Point defence). I just manually scoop mats, and fit guardian shield boosters, so that I can have chaff and PD into the bargain. Solid build though. o7 Cmdr.

I'd suggest something more like this, while staying with the build as much as possible: https://s.orbis.zone/2ojr
Fixed your armor/HRPs, put better engineering on PP, PD, sensors, weps, added a dispersal cannon and a chaff launcher.

In a HazRES, they will fly right towards you so the LR beam won't make much difference.
Hicap frags will just take longer to kill than OC, so they don't offer nearly as much benefit as it might seem.
Don't think scramble stacks.

Wow I like. I had no idea about that dispersal cannon. That is useful.

I went with highcap Frags because it would let me stay in a Haz Res for longer. But i guess OC is a happy medium. Do you 600 shield will be okay? I kinda panic when shields go down. That's why I had 900 shield

With OC vs hicap, it's a choice of shooting more powerful pellets or shooting more over time.
Shooting more powerful pellets will do the same damage in less time, ergo it's more efficient.
You only need a little more than half as many shots to kill.
You don't want to stay longer, you want to kill more.

The dispersal and chaff will help you avoid a lot of gimbal fire (assuming you use them, lol), so your shields won't take nearly as much damage.
You were a sponge before
You also have a lot of hull and biweaves come back fast too, that's sort of the whole point.

Use pips to sys to bolster your shields when taking fire.

Most of my medium PVP ships have less than 600, fwiw.

Don't overlook the LR sensors.
Those are great in RES and CZs.

Dude this is the kind of advice I need to polish my build of. I appreciate it.

Your reasoning about OC frags is sound. I definitely will use them.

600 shields will have to do. I guess I will just have to become a better pilot and not hide behind the shield. I need to do better pip management when fight.

Thanks man i think is build is pretty much complete.

This looks like a killer NPC build. Well done. Bob has some good recommendations if you want to improve and I would recommend replace one of your Scramble Spectrums with the Emissive effect. You know how the targets become unresolvable for a few secs after they drop a heat sink? Emissive will stop that.

Only criticism I have is that for HazRes builds I usually go energy weapons only (+ one high cap multi of the smallest class with corrosive).
But it's a long time since I last stayed longer than half an hour in a HazRes.
And I'll second the highest grade long-range D sensors you can get.

This thread has given me the itch for some target shooting. Those Cytos take practice!
