Xeno scanner in AX-CZ?

Hey all,

I'm still pretty new to the bug fight. Does anyone else get much value out of the xeno scanner in the middle of combat?

It worked great during this first couple cinematic encounters with Thargoids. But I can't be bothered to try and keep a bug within scanning angle and 500m. Especially while under fire from scouts and swarms.

On the other hand, I'd dearly appreciate the help in targeting hearts. Any advice?

But is it really worth it? I usually find it too cumbersome to chase the bug down in my whale of an anaconda.

And I'm using Gauss cannons to shoot the hearts anyway.

I don't use one, and a lot of people don't. You get a little bit of aiming help with gauss cannons, but if you're a decent shot it doesn't matter. The only other thing I can think of is that it lets you see a scouts HP so you can back off before they die.

I use it solely for scout health.

Interceptors in AX CZs don't let you get close enough, even in the most agile ships, to complete a scan.

As a test, I took my very very tanky Challenger, with the sole purpose of scanning 1 interceptor before opening fire.

I died. Never got the scan about about 60%. Lol

You don't need targeting data for the hearts, when using guass cannons, they glow brighter than the rest, and guass are hitscan, so no lead. :)

The shutdown field neutraliser is a bit more optional, I can rarely get it to work, so it's kinda wasting a slot really.
I usually just boost and fa off, and drift away, if my ship bothers to warn me it's coming. Lol

Not done any xeno-hunting in the last couple of months but, I liked using the Xeno Scanner, cause I like to see the hull %. But I never did any active scanning, waste of time!
Also ditched the shutdown field neutraliser too, I just drift away with F/A off.
