when community goal coming back

Never did a single CG but I really hope that they'll be fleshed out and come back with more engaging gameplay - story line...I would really love to get involved if it's not only "Hey guys you have to deliver 1437689246923784632732743729 tons of biowaste to Guardians sites".

LOL Well aren't you just a ray of sunshine.
While I don't do them very often, I'm sure newer players like a way to get a few creds.
I've always wanted more cg's to be done at outpost's so the big ships don't always rule.
Ye know. Like owners of cutters need the money
Because you are Mr Optimist & constructive post himself.

Cg's are quite irrelevant. Yes, you get a station here or there, but in all honesty, CGs are really moot.
The station gets built either way, doesn't matter how many mats you carry, the traders will succeed, even if you don't kill a single pirate. So really, what's the consequence of a success or failure of a CG?
The one and ONLY CG it mattered was the one from Palin, that's why we only had C2 corrosion resistant cargo racks for a while. There was a consequence. Anywhere else - nada! I've done a fair few myself, got gold decals for those CGs to show. But I only did it for the decal, not for the cause.
One was particularly memorable - recover escape pods: Log in, collect pods, log out, repeat. Do until you have enough or go insane. I needed the cash, so I watched some TV while the limpets were flying. Not that the CG meant anything or I cared about the why of it. But the decal was worth it. The gameplay itself was... repetitive.

:)

Op: April is barely started, plenty of other stuff to be getting on with :)

Hopefully we will never see them again.

I always thought CGs should be created fully automatic as a result of very specific BGS circumstances.

I don't know about that - the game has plenty of procgen stuff, a bit of hand-crafted content would be good. Though looking back at the CGs, 90% of them could have been procgen 🤔
Exactly. I think there could still be handcrafted events, but they should be way more complex than CGs. But a faction in famine could just automatically ask for 1000000 tons of food.

You could say the stations needing repair are the new CGs as they make extravagant demands automatically ;) In fact, if they added extra demands, so it was 'bring me X commodities, kill Y pirates, mine Z ores' it could be fun. For bonus points ask for Pilot Federation bonds (as they actually come from killing more Thargoids).

They’d better have something planned to replace them.
Why would you junk one component if you don’t have something good to replace?

This.

I mean, if they're getting rid of all the parts of ED that are sucky in some way, there won't be much left.

Mystic Stealthie predicts that when CGs return they'll actually be more generic than they are now.
I wouldn't be surprised if the reason they've gone is because it was a full-time job for somebody to administrate them and so they're trying to come up with an automated way to generate them.

I predict that the new CGs will make use of scenarios.

Two trips in a cargo cutter then ;)

Well, they said they're going to talk more in April. They already announced that this week's (Thursday) stream is Will trying to catch DW2. So not this week.

So they'll probably announce something next Thursday (just before Good Friday ... not convinced), or the week after that, which is the last week in April. That seems most likely to me, as this is SOP for fdev - I think 3.1 is the last release I remember that came out before expected. I guess until then we'll continue to get the kids shouting 'are we there yet' increasingly often :)

Plenty to do in Elite until then, finishing off the SRV expedition, exploring to the next waypoint on DW2, heading to the Gnosis for that expedition.

Well, by the end of the week we'll be halfway through. It's a bit annoying that they still can't even talk about it.

Nope. 15th is the 'middle' (30 /2 == 15), and thats next Monday... you kids, we used to have to learn how to count :) Unless of course you meant to say 'by the end of the week we'll still not be half way through' ;)
