My Cobra is about to get two additional Size 1 slots?

It's not the utility unlock I so desire, but hot damn am I happy if this is correct!

Well, they did say "small ships", which I translate as "small pad ships".
But it could also be just the really small ships. Sidey, Eagles, Hauler, Adder, Viper.

But then it's followed by mediums and larges also getting a new slot.

Dis' gonna' be good! My trade Cobra is happy.

For me I'm actually going to use the modules for the new auto features.

It makes a 1984-build Cobra genuinely viable.

C4 cargo, C4 passenger, C4 shield, C2 fuel scoop, C2 cargo, C2 FSDI, C1 DC, C1 SCAP

For most small craft commanders this new update translates into three new slots - two added from the update and on cleared out because of the new on-board AD.

Freaky good.
Sounded like 2 class 1 slots for small ships. For larger ships the size of the single slot hasn't been confirmed. Where did you get 3 slots from? The new default AD will come as standard on newly purchased ships, however, it will be in one of the new slots: Similar to how the Basic D-Scanner came as standard occupying a class 1 slot.

"DC - This module will also come as standard in all newly-purchased small ships.
SCAP - This module will also come as standard in all newly-purchased ships.
With the introduction of these new modules, small ships will be outfitted with two additional size one Optional Internal slots, while medium and large ships will also receive one additional Optional Internal slot. This will automatically and retroactively apply to all relevant ships."

So small ships get four slots added, medium to large get three ..... am I reading this right ?

So if you don't want the DC or the SCAP can you sell them?

Otherwise, should I be purchasing a fleet of small ships now that are without them?

No. Small ships get two slots, medium and large get one.

New ships will come with the modules included, but existing ones won't have them. How would we include them if we wanted, in existing ships? Interesting.

@Lightspeed, only the ADC comes as standard, yes you can sell it. The SCAP will need to be purchased from a port. When they say 'Module comes included' They only mean at the time of purchasing a new ship, or when you get a free default ship.

As mentioned above, 2 class 1 slots for small ships, 1 (yet unconfirmed slot for larger ships)

Most (all?) large ships have no class 1 slot, so the devs will need to balance things carefully. For example: on the T9-T10, smallest is class 2. On the Cutter and others it is Class 3

So do they give all heavy ships class 3 to keep things fair?... Well, that's for them to figure out.

Will has confirmed that you can sell both in a later post in the thread.

I actually use a docking computer now in mys ships (and yes, I can do the docking training with ease), since I am lazy. But I am not sure I will want to use the Advanced DC, but will try it out.
I also will try out the SCAP, but I do not think that I will want to use it. In fact this is already in all our ships, with the 75% throttle rule. If one is lazy or has enough time, it is enough to point at the target and set the throttle to 75%. So SCAP is nothing new actually, but I will try it out. It will be interesting to see, if it also puts the throttle at 100% until a certain point.

But the extra slot I hope to receive for my exploration DBX is a nice touch! The DBX will become a much better ship with it, not only in an explorer role.

My CMDR has to head back to the bubble now to make ten c1 thermal resistant reflective plated HRPs.

I did read the concerned posts about this. Will it really be that bad? The new slots are size 1, I expect.
If it becomes a problem, they could introduce a system of 'diminishing returns' from HRP or MRP. I did see builds with lots of HRP, MRP, and also lots of shield buffs. I can imagine that the HRPs or MRPs are a problem, since they use no power, generate no heat and add only weight. On the other hand, too much weight hinders speed, and to fill up a ships slots with these things makes a ship poor in many respects, except combat as a 'hull tank'.
So - is it really that bad?
