[POWERPLAY] Disable all autopilot features when pledged (existing and incoming April update)

Botting is a curse on Powerplay. Its not helped by the new updates that will make it even easier to do.

Its a brutal move, but please disable these features if you pledge. Powerplay was supposed to be an end game activity, so these beginner features have no place there.

EDIT: A less draconian version of this suggested by others would (although gamey) would be to disable auto pilot tools when carrying powerplay prep and fort materials.

-or- make PowerPlay open only.

Then we can kill bots. 😁
(And make interwebs traffic shaping a bannable offence, so bots are either banned, or kicked from PowerPlay to solo mode)

Plus, make hostile PowerPlay NPC's more aggressive. I've been living in hostile space for 4 weeks, and I only get bothered by the navy checking in not a Thargoid. Bots can't fight very well.

Agreed. Alongside any other bot-monitoring that's already done.

I'm also all for Open play having more of a requirement, because obvious PvP reasons. While Open-only would be ideal it'd take gameplay away from Solo/Group CMDRs; so it's too late to do that (i.e. should have been Open-only from the beginning).

I prefer that Solo/Group Powerplaying contributions are capped server-wide, so that any PP actions require considerable Open play activity to be successful. E.g. Fortifying a Star System, Solo/Group CMDRs can contribute up to 50% maximum of the total Fortification requirement. After the cap is reached in a star system during the cycle, Solo/Group CMDRs can still earn and cash merits (for PP ranking purposes), but won't count any more to that star system's Fortification - Open play tasks are required to get to 100% Fortification.

Open play would naturally be uncapped. Supporters of a Power could do all their contributions in Open play without issue; e.g. Fortifying a star system from 0% to 100%.

This gives the best of both worlds: Solo/Group CMDRs can still Powerplay, while Open gameplay is necessary for any Powerplay actions to succeed.

It's also been suggested by myself and others, that PowerPlay weapons and modules get removed from PowerPlay, and placed with some sort of tech broker.
PowerPlay rewards can then be something a little less unique, such as money, or materials. More for each rank.

That has 2 up sides,
1) It removes CMDRs from PowerPlay, who are only there to get the modules. These CMDRs care little for what their actions do, and will just do whatever is quickest, then leave. They can now get those modules elsewhere.
2) with more similar rewards for each faction, CMDRs will naturally begin to choose which faction they want to support, rather than which simply has the best reward. Although, CMDRs will inevitably start choosing the winning faction. Lol

Not that this has much to do with the OPs post. Lol

It would probably be sufficient to deactivate auto-pilots when you are carrying PP-cargo, there are a lot of pledget cmdrs who only rarely contribute tp PP. No need to permanently limit the gameplay for someone who does 500 merits a week to keep his bounty-bonus.

And while I'm all for open-only, it wont do anything against bots. For about 0.0001% of the efford required to get a working bot you can prevent p2p instancing.

I'd be opposed to this without other changes being made. With module-shopping taking 4 weeks per Power, that would make the DC unavailable for nearly a year, even though the module-shoppers would be doing very little PP stuff in that time (one 750t cargo delivery every 4 weeks). And plenty of veteran players use the DC, it isn't just a crutch for noobs.

Making PP modules available from tech brokers would help, but wouldn't change the fact that many PP players also do other things, and would presumably resent being inconvenienced like this.

Because I'm a veteran player, pledged to a Power, who looks forward to supercruise autopilot, and I find your "bots are ruining my gameplay, so let me ruin yours to fix that" approach to be.... Flawed. I'm on PS4, BTW, so no worries about bots here.

Thankfully I believe Frontier will ignore your request.

Eventually I expect to be returning from DW2 with more explo data than I have ever carried before. And before I cash it in, I want to be rank 5 with LYR, for the multiplier.

So I'll be transporting 10,000 tons of PP fortification stuff in one week, while still carrying all my explo data from most of DW2 (since leaving Explorers Anchorage). I'll be doing it in a Cutter, in Solo, and with the best docking computer (not because I can't dock without one, but because it eliminates the risk of collision with NPC''s).

So I'd appreciate no unpleasant changes arriving in the next few months, at least!
