What next?

Hello,
been grinding up the rank to Duke and some money in Ngalinn, got myself a fairly well equipped Python (A-Rated, laser turrets and gimballed cannons, still need some shield cells), got 50mil in the bank, and wondering what next. Mining's not my thing.
Was thinking of getting into some fighting, for the sake of changing the scenery and practicing something I'm bad at, and the ship should take it. I would like to keep some cargo space and jump range to be able to take on some missions like slave-sourcing, or whatever pays 5mil+ per run.
However, I am wondering what system to go to. Because if, then I will have to get to Allied with local factions, to be able to receive high-paid missions...
Should I aim for some HQ systems, like Cameo, Summerland, Facece etc.? Or whatever else?
Would be kind to get some suggestions.
Thanks

System choice is a tough one to suggest for you as it's down to personal preference as to what you want do you want to see more players? have a greater single impact on the BGS? more interesting mission variety?

If you're stuck on systems or what's next my suggestion to you would be to check out some player groups.

At most they will give you some people to talk to and engage with and set you some objectives and goals at their very least they will give you a sense of direction/

Did you try core/void opal mining?
It's both more interesting then oldschool mining and nets a nice sum of money.
Robigo is still a classic for mission running, but there are other systems which offer limited starports in range to reliably stack missions.
But you have to get allied with all of them to get good missions.

If instead you're just taking your time to rank up. Missions with rep+ rewards help with rank. And if you get extra disposable credits from mining or other lucrative activities you can also rank up faster with donation missions in any system with fed or empire aligned factions.

What ship are you flying? Edit, oh a Python! Good ship for fighting and hauling !

The "old" Community Goals were good in that you could do some fighting of pirates at a RES site nearby, with the helping cover fire of law enforcement ships, hand in your bounties and improve your rep at the station ..... which would then give you better missions, such as data transport or cargo hauling.

So I would say, keep an eye on the next "new format" community goal, or Interstellar Initiative, when it arrives, because it will likely concentrate activity in one system (or group of systems?) where, by doing what is required, you will automatically increase rep with the local factions. Which leads to better missions, as before.

But we don't yet know what these Interstellar Initiatives will involve, of course, but I can't see them being very different from before, just longer.

No, didn't try that. Only been doing mining at the very beginning, found it very boring and that was it. I will see to try it out again.
I'm all aware about allied, just thought to ask for a specific system - Robigo is too far, I'm around Summerland.

Correct, Python, and enough money to decently equip it. But all for nothing, because I am just so weak in the fight.

Most of us were .... but experience can be gained at RES sites. Tag along with the law enforcement and, so long as you shoot the pirate, you will be credited with the bounty and ... most importantly .... your experience and expertise will improve.
That's what I had to do.

Thanks - I tried hunting pirates (solo gameplay) and that just sucked big time. Stripping down my shields like nothing, can't hit because they are always behind me, and if I manage to turn with boost, I only get 2sec... yeah, just sucks.
But I remembered someone somewhere saying I should drive backwards with the Python. Maybe I'll try that.

With RES I guess you mean Resource Extraction Sites?

Get yourself a cheaper more agile combat ship, the Python can be awkward at first, then as suggested got to any of the Resource Extraction Sites except Hazardous and attack the pirates after the cops have engaged and you have scanned them.
