Why have a profanity filter option if you're gonna ban people for swear words?

Does anyone know if the filter is on by default?

I wasn't even aware the filter was optional.

Had to search around the comm's HUD to find it.
Never even looked at the Comm's options before and it appears to be "Off" by default.

But the rules aren't clear. That is what OP is upset over. I think. I mean, I'm not them.

Once again, I'd rather there not be a filter and have my language censored than have an optional filter and get banned by people that turn it off.

Regardless of what the rule is, turning off the profanity filter should forfeit your ability to report people for profane language.

Still doesn't change the fact that having a profanity filter but then banning people for using profane language is wrong.

If it was my kid you are playing with and you are using Foul Langauge I would have reported you also. It's your mouth your fault. See you don't know the age of the person you are playing with. Even if the game rated 13. It also depends on if it was racial or not.

OP still raises a valid point. It is daft that people who voluntarily turn off the profanity filter (didnt even know it was possible, but cool!) complain about being confronted with profanity. It is also daft that FD still has a very, very lenient stance on known cheaters. Suggesting to 'just deal with it' isn't very sensible in the context of a discussion forum that explicitly exists to discuss this game.

First off, im not a ganker. I like my PvP to have a meaning and an objective, if it doesnt I do something else.
Having said that, im not blind. Tbh, congratulations all-round on the fantastic salt generator that is this thread and what caused it. From a meta perspective, it is artful, and I appreciate art where I find it. A ganker complaining about a meta-gank, a Cmdr escaping a gank repeatedly only to fall into a trap far worse than a rebuy, once he'd escaped? Ooh thats spicy.
