I just unlocked the Corvette without grinding ranks!

I got the rank for buying a Corvette a year or so ago. Haven't gotten around to actually buying one yet.

The method is quite easy.

Simply play the game normally for 3 years, with a total play time of 13 weeks, 23 hours and 2 minutes and hey presto! You will, as a side effect of regular gameplay, reach rear admiral without having to grind.

Hope this helps. ;)

That's exactly how I did it.
I just played the game, did what I like to do, I still play that way btw, and along the way I unlocked the Cutter and the Corvette.
I must say that I did grind the last two ranks for the Cutter, only grind I ever did ugh.
Now I have 27 ships all engineered and three billion in the bank, I need another money sink lol.

My Imperial Rank? Zero.
My Federation Rank? Only enough to get the Ross 128 Prison system permit.
Number of Federation rank locked ships I own? Zero.
Number of Imperial rank locked ships I own? One.

ā€œWait - You have a Clipper and Zero Imperial Rank?ā€
Yes - I do.

It’s called ā€œArissa’s Mistakeā€, and how I got her without the Rank Requirement is a long story.

Well done Commander but alas you didn't 'earn' your Corvette. The true forumite way is to focus 100% of your playing effort on getting those ranks, foregoing every other activity if it doesn't garnish you that 0.1% rank increase. Then once you have your shiny new Corvette you create a post on the forums bitterly and incessantly complaining what a grind it was to get it.

That is the forum way after all.

I am still only duke or something like that after years, but one day I will get the right to by that iShip ... will be nice in the garage next to the other iShips, collecting dust :)

Corvette I got after roughly 1.5 years, also without grinding, though I did donate money if the station had any opportunities ... you know, to help the filthy federals out a bit.
Check that because I think Duke is what you need for the Cutter

Isn't.... well.... isn't that then some type of "Slowvette" then ? ;)

Either way, it'll require a proper Ship name, like... "No Grind" or "3 years and all I got was..." :D

Congrats, it's a damn fine Ship!

Honestly, with the ability to choose high-rep rewards much more easily in the revised mission rewards system is ranking up still that hard? It seems to me if you are just doing missions and you focus on those rewards that it is much easier now? I remember grinding rank for my Cutter back before I could pick those high rep missions and I did an awful lot of donation missions to get there.

I'm playing the mostest purest form of the game possible. I'm only taking one mission a week and even then only a courier Mission because I'm still in the Sidewinder that I got at the start of the game years ago. At least now I have enough for a rebuy though. It's slow going but you can't beat the realism.

Hmmm, "just play three years"... I'm proof that this is possible, but playing one game for three years with all others coming out is not something I'm most proud of. Must be some drug coded into it.

A normal game cycle is much, much shorter. A game should let players achieve most "goals" in a matter of months, not years.

Could you please try flying all the way to the next system without jumping? It is said to take a bit over a year in real time. I'm so curious about this and seems you have the divine patience for it.

Pretty please? o_O:D

Pretty much how i would have done it OP... if i operated out of Fed or Imperial space.

But i'm up in Alliance space, so i'll probably never get to the higher Imperial/Federal ranks.

You can find two systems fairly close and it will take just an hour or so. You don't see anything when you get there though, because the jump animation is also the loading screen.

I just unlocked the Corvette by grinding ranks!

Took only 3 months, 3 weeks, 3 days and 3 hours.

Corvettes are fun.

That's exactly what I was doing. And it worked like a charm. Just play the game and ranks will come to you!
In 4 years playing I was Warrant Ensign Baron or something... Now, thanks to all those burning stations I'm Rear Duke Admiral!
Just play the game...

I did a bit of deliberate grinding myself to get there, but I still had fun doing it.
I do not at all consider all grinding to be negative.

Nope. As with my cutter, when the time comes I shall alllocate three days to acquiring this trinket, not three years. Time is short and the galaxy vast. We must stride it as collossi, not shuffling somnambulists.

"Play the game normally" just doesn't work for Elite I'm afraid. Everyone has a different opinion on what that actually means.

Somebody who loves deep space exploration won't get a Corvette in ten years either.

Oh you've ruined it, where's the fun in that?

Forgot about the loading screen though, thanks ;)
