I had to do some rat-related experiments years ago, which involved removing their brains and (to grossly simplify) see what neurotransmitters were released in different circumstances. This always made me wonder - as the brain was doing 'stuff' was it still thinking? If so, what? 'Blimey it's dark?' or 'stone me that desk was moving fast'.
