How about a "time to target" warning bell?

As an experienced player, I don't see myself having much need for a Supercruise Assist module. The only time I would be likely to use it would be to stop myself overshooting my target while consulting the Codex.

And I don't need an autothrottle for that. All I would need is an option in the Systems Panel to set a warning to sound when time to target reaches a preset time to remind me that I ought to be getting my head out of the Codex and back to flying the ship.

So how about a "time to target"warning bell for the next update?

Well, at least when you're watching Netflix you can glance at the game window occasionally to see how close you are to your supercruise target. You can't do that in the Codex.

Maybe the solution is to present all the Codex information as a Netflix series, and add an in-game Netflix client.

Of course, then you'd need a warning bell to tell you when you were approaching your supercruise target.

Oh, come on - even my microwave oven has a time to target bell which, i say, is much appreciated :)

On a more serious side note, i think that some modes (codex, camera. etc) should allow warnings or should have some bells ringing when a certain condition is happening
I faced the rebuy screen once because, while taking screenshots outside a station, somehow my ship ended up in the mailslot exclusion zone and none of the warnings reached me in camera mode. Lesson learned, but still

An alternative - I've just remembered I thought about this a while back - would be to display time to target at the top of the Codex page while you're in supercruise.

And I think Northpin's right about the need for warnings in camera mode.

I'd like to think that an item of equipment whose sole function is to go 'ding' at the appropriate time could be added to a ship's systems without taking up an entire module slot.

Mind you, a lot of people think something similar about limpet controllers, and much good it does them.

I'd better say this before anyone else does: It should come with multiple tones for multicrew, so you don't have to ask for whom the bell tolls.
