How Does a Squadron become a Player Faction Group or make one?

Okay, I was wondering. I saw on Inara that there are player faction groups IN-GAME and was wondering about them. How does one make a PFG and get it into the game? I'm asking for my Alliance and figured here was the BEST place to Start. I'm hoping for a Dev answer but anything from players that can help will help. I have done a bunch of searching online and everything points to this forum but there are NO pinned posted from Devs about how to go about it...

Hey TAZ, I have a player faction in game called the Casual Crew and it took us about 8 months to get our name in the game, and how we did this is not hard at all but you will have to meet certain criteria that Frontier will want. There is a form that you will have to fill out and follow to the T or you will be declined. Hopefully this link will help you more. link

Further, to answer your question directly, you need to request it through the developer. I'm not aware of them adding any since Beyond so you're probably best randomly choosing a faction in your system and calling it your own. The process is much quicker than it used to be, and a lot of new factions have been added recently - as dexatron said, make sure you follow the instructions exactly, especially around which systems are allowed.

You can expect to have a Player Faction added in just a few days if you fill in the application right first time. And try to consider other nearby large factions, Powerplay areas, superpower areas, etc. if you want to avoid getting jumped on by your new neighbours.

As a personal comment, try to write an interesting and original in-game description for your faction. It will be in the game for ever more and read by any passing Cmdr, hopefully for many years to come. I personally think there are far too many "We are an independent mercenary group feared throughout the galaxy who welcome new Cmdrs for Bounty Hunting, Mining, Exploration, Missions, etc."
But.... it's your faction so entirely up to you
