Galnet : Ship stolen from shipyard

Just to save anyone else the effort - went to Vega, and as expected - nothing

Ship Stolen from Starport
25 APR 3305

An independent pilot’s ship has been stolen from a starport hangar in the Vega system.

The ship’s owner, Commander Bjorn Lennox, told Vox Galactica:

“I’d docked my Diamondback Explorer at Fort Dixon for some routine maintenance, and to enjoy a short break following a deep space exploration voyage. When I went back to the landing pad I discovered the hangar was empty and my ship had gone missing!”

The starport issued a statement from Security Chief Misaki Sanders:

“We are at a loss to explain how the thief managed to hijack our security network, gain entry to a docked and sealed ship, and override authorisation checks to fly out of the station unchallenged.”

“Nearby systems have been alerted and we are collecting leads to track down the stolen vessel. In the meantime, we are conducting an inquiry into how these breaches of docking bay protocols could have occurred.”

Anyway - Spacelegs - amirite?

Did you notice there was a story that vanished? It was about Mahon clashing with Kincaid
Yeah, came out today, dated days ago, and now gone

Kincaid and Mahon Clash in Alliance Assembly

20 APR 3305

Prime Minister Edmund Mahon has once again clashed with President Gibson Kincaid, following the latter’s attempt to take control of government policy during an Assembly session.

Political journalist Vanya Driscoll reported for The Alliance Tribune:

“There were dramatic scenes in the Assembly as President Kincaid sought to steer debates on military strategy, making several demands for increased funding towards new fleets.”

“Prime Minister Mahon eventually stepped in and rejected these proposals outright. Kincaid was further reminded that a prior request for executive presidential powers had been unsuccessful, even if he insists on behaving otherwise.”

“Although he still has supporters, a number of councillors have privately opined that Kincaid is now a toxic presence at odds with the Alliance’s ethos.”

Nice. I saw it in the little box in the UI and was about to click on it......and then my wife wanted a cup of tea. Returned and it was gone, thinking I'd imagined it all.

Blimey, a Galnet article that turns out to mean nothing in-game?

Shurely shome mishtake?

TBH, I always thought this sort of thing would be a good candidate either for a mission or for one of the new "scenarios"; There's a stolen ship and you need to disable it without destroying it and then protect it until the cops show up.

You locate the stolen ship, interdict it and it'll either be alone or escorted by hostile ships.
You destroy the escorts (if necessary) and disable the ship and then you have to wait around for, say, 3 minutes until the cops arrive and other hostile ships will show up during that time and attempt to destroy you and the stolen ship.

Colour me unsuprised as well :) As similarly they always seem like they could lead to something - event something simple like a news ini the station - but hey - same old same old.

Having said that - Vega seems a nice HGE farming spot , lots of Core Dynamics HGEs here - well, there were ;)

Coincidence, but wasn't it a DX Explorer in the Interstellar Initiatives video?
Yup

What could possibly go wrong? The call back to base:

Ok, guys, let's haul this thing back. Activate the tractor beam mod..... Huh? What do you mean "no tractor beam module yet?" ... How the hell am I supposed to get this thing back home? ... Towing cable? CABLE? Man, that is SO last century. Is there a limpet to do this? .... EVA? Are you guys serious? How the hell am I? ..... No limpet. You mean I actually have to go out the back door, in an EVA suit, actually hook up a cable to the other ship, MANUALLY, drag this thing back to base? .... What do you mean "It'll be fine"??? Have you tested this yet? ... No, what works on PAPER doesn't always work the same out HERE. ... Do I hook it up to the nose or are there hooks on the rear? ... Aft section? Any idea how that'll work if I jump to hyperspace with the butt end of the DBX going the wrong way? ... Again with the "works on paper" thing. Who is this? What's your supervisor's name? ... You know what? Send Galactic Towing out here. They move ships from one system to the other all the time.
