I'd like to see a circular indicator which shows where your docking pad is. If EDDI can tell me, "Docking Pad 17 is at 2-o-clock far as you enter with the green lights on your right," why shouldn't the base game?
Surely the radar already does that?
Does it? As a target, or some other way? Is it a certain color? (Colorblind)Surely the radar already does that?
Here an easy trick I do. I lock on the station then ask for permission to dock. Once I enter All I need is the Compass It tells me the location of the landing pad if you fly straight through the Mailbox. You either see it go up down left or right as you slowly fly forward. Rotate your ship until the compass dot starts to point down or South then keep going. Once that Compass dot is due south while flying straight the landing pad is under you. If you see a mini o the Landing pad is behind you and you need to back up.Well, you can get over the pad, but it doesn't help you level. More of an issue with big ships. (Looking at you, Beluga!)

Huh, will have to check that out as soon as I make it back from Beagle PointThe little NAV indicator to the left of the main radar - the one which shows eg. if the planet you're targeting in SC is in front or behind you - will show direction to your designated landing pad as soon as you enter through the mail slot.

I always called that the compass. The little NAV indicator to the left of the main radar - the one which shows eg. if the planet you're targeting in SC is in front or behind you - will show direction to your designated landing pad as soon as you enter through the mail slot.
There's no pitch or roll indicator, I believe is what people are saying - which is silly, because while it's not strictly needed, it's already part of the flight suite, and should be there during take-off and landing. The compass shows you where your pad is and the pad does what you suggest once you're close enough - I'm not sure anything is needed...

Not the pitch so much I think, but the roll and yaw yes.But you get a much clearer picture of the orientation of your ship and the pad. If you can't work out from that you need a DC![]()
Nice, learning some good stuff here.![]()
Why is there a need for an additional indicator to dock at starports?
You enter, find your pad, hover above it, lower your ship until the magnetic clamps grab you, done.
That's no rocket science, plenty of people do it in fa off.
