Altimeter bubble

I'd like to see a circular indicator which shows where your docking pad is. If EDDI can tell me, "Docking Pad 17 is at 2-o-clock far as you enter with the green lights on your right," why shouldn't the base game?

Well, you can get over the pad, but it doesn't help you level. More of an issue with big ships. (Looking at you, Beluga!)
Here an easy trick I do. I lock on the station then ask for permission to dock. Once I enter All I need is the Compass It tells me the location of the landing pad if you fly straight through the Mailbox. You either see it go up down left or right as you slowly fly forward. Rotate your ship until the compass dot starts to point down or South then keep going. Once that Compass dot is due south while flying straight the landing pad is under you. If you see a mini o the Landing pad is behind you and you need to back up.

So in a sense, we do have a Bubble it called the compass. You just have to learn how to use it right.

In Alpha or Beta before the game was released. We had a landing pad Bug. Which did not show us the landing pad hologram. All we had to use was the compass. It easy if you know what you are doing.

If you are unsure on what I am talking about buy a docking computer and just watch the compass while the computer docks your ship.

Does it? As a target, or some other way? Is it a certain color? (Colorblind)

The little NAV indicator to the left of the main radar - the one which shows eg. if the planet you're targeting in SC is in front or behind you - will show direction to your designated landing pad as soon as you enter through the mail slot.

Huh, will have to check that out as soon as I make it back from Beagle Point

I always called that the compass.

The compass shows you where your pad is and the pad does what you suggest once you're close enough - I'm not sure anything is needed...

There's no pitch or roll indicator, I believe is what people are saying - which is silly, because while it's not strictly needed, it's already part of the flight suite, and should be there during take-off and landing.

But you get a much clearer picture of the orientation of your ship and the pad. If you can't work out from that you need a DC 😏

Not the pitch so much I think, but the roll and yaw yes.
As to DC? Well it should be part of the flight director anyway.
The point is that the ship can do it, it does it for ground landings, so need or otherwise, there's no sensible reason not to have it.

Nice, learning some good stuff here. :)

Another thing many people don't realise, when you are leaving the dock you get an arrow indicator in your HUD that tells you whether you need to go up or down to be level with the exit, when you are level it turns into a small rectangle.

Why is there a need for an additional indicator to dock at starports?
You enter, find your pad, hover above it, lower your ship until the magnetic clamps grab you, done.
That's no rocket science, plenty of people do it in fa off.

The OP may be a new player and isn't used to flying his spaceship yet, I notice it's a new forum account, practice is needed I think, it comes natuarally after a while. It would be annoying in some situations because often I come in to dock in a medium ship, if it's near the slot I fly past, flip around in the open space and fly upside down to the pad, then point the nose down, do a piroutte and flatten out and touch down at the same time, having this flashing message in my face warning me I'm not aligned properly would just be irritating.

There are enough tools for docking already.
