I think Supercruise Assist should max out the speed

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Trying out the max throttle / slow down - I dozed off and missed the mark ! o_O (big loop of shame ?) .. make a u-turn and supercruise assist all the way.

It is a beginner feature. I believe that the idea is that it is not as good as an experienced pilot so only beginners will use it (or lazy like me!).

I'm enjoying how easy it is, using a combination of Advanced Docking Computer and the Supercruise Assist for 1 jump passenger missions, for gathering materials.

Here's the thing: these added features are supposed to encourage new players to stay in the game. How does restricting the Supercruise Assist so that it makes a long and uneventful supercruise much longer and no more eventful contribute to that?

It should go full speed and decelerate accordingly.
As it works now, its only advantage is that you can do other stuff (sort off) while it crawls to destination
But the disadvantages are: slow, takes up a slot, unsafe so it requires constant supervision and it kinda beats the advantage mentioned above, did I mentioned slow?

If it was an option embedded in the ships computer same as FA On/Off or Rotational Correction, then yea.
As it is now, anything that you can put in a size one slot is better than SCA

If you use it properly, you can drop in the target instance with a screeching halt.. and NO hull damage.
Been zipping thu stations like nobody's business lately.
Simply re-engage the SCassist, from full throttle, in LESS than 6 seconds of eta.
Try it. It's wonderful!

WOW !!

I just tried this. It might be your next favourite move ! :D

I'm pretty sure my ship goes through the station and stop 2km away.

so SCA can actually cheat:)

Yes. And I'm in two minds about this. It annoys me as you should be able to slow down just as quickly without (and hence I suspect this is not intended), but it made my evening collecting materials from USSs really quite enjoyable, as instead of long supercruises between each one, it was literally seconds.

It's supercruise assist, not supercruise auto pilot. It has drawbacks for a reason.
No, it doesn't. There's no reason why it shouldn't reach maximum speed. Would new players get naucious or jump ship due to fear? It controls speed, anyway. It's artificially neutered, with a twisted sense of logic by FD. Its name doesn't really matter, its functionality lacks. Sorry, I can't justify it at all.

Agreed, it's a trade-off. The correct way to use it is for the final approach, or for shorter distances. Or for graceful orbits :)
Or not at all. 😎

And yes, I'm being serious. Not a fan of compulsory modules or game features when it comes to gameplay approaches (literally, in this case).

So it's most useful feature is a clearly not intended function. Awesome work Fdev slow clap.

Also, good find Cmdr, I will try that out.

For ultra long distances, just switch SCA in to align with your destination, hit maximum throttle and go do you stuff until you're about 7-8 seconds on the ETA away, then 75% your throttle to let SCA take over.

+1 to all of the above :)
