More paintjobs

With pink thrusters, I hope ?
Nope, purple for a bit of contrast.

Classical case of annoyance being a form of entertainment. If it floats your boat, go for it!

Don't be juvenile. I'll be the judge of whether something annoys me or not. This doesn't. It amuses me. If you want to keep giving FDev money for the privilege of QAing their updates then go for it. It's none of my business. I wish I could gather a customer base that will test my products for free, find them riddled with errors, but yet STILL spend money on the little cosmetic bones I throw them. If Braben ever does seminars on how to get rich from a gullible customer base, I'm there (note the implicit irony).

I've been quite disciplined...

After v3.3.0 killed the BGS and left it unworkable for a long time + during the ensuing fallout, my new Ships remained "stock" ever since.

They work just fine.

(No) more paintjobs for now…

Imho the new ones are somewhat ugly as… well… And we finally need some paint in Qohen Leths style, I'd say ! PLUS a Hauler "Checker Taxi" paintjob !! I'm waiting since years now on that one.

Btw... waiting… are there any news about the Lifetime Expansion Pass and the "compensation" ?

Buy what you like, and don't see it as rewarding FD for anything. Good stuff will sell, the shockingly rubbish won't.

WARNING - CAR METAPHOR INCOMING

But would you buy brand new, super-duper quality rims and tyres for your vehicle where the engine barely runs, the doors are falling off and the fuel tank has a hole in it?

I want them to bring back the iridescent paintjobs. I brought one for my XBox Corvette, but missed the opportunity to get one for my PS Corvette

Is it such a hard concept to understand that some people might like things you don't like, and might accept to part with their money in exchange for it? Do you believe everybody buying something from Frontier is just too dumb to see what you see? I'm sorry but you are not special. Well, at least not unique or smarter than the rest.

When you buy a paintjob, all you get is a paintjob. You might imagine people are supporting Frontier and helping keep the game afloat in its current state when they buy paintjobs, but really Frontier has no obligation to put any of that money back into the game, so the smarter proposition is that people are really only buying access to a paintjob.

And so, if that money only gives you a paintjob, why would any of what Frontier have otherwise done with the game matter? It's a bloody paintjob, all it does is sit there on your ship and look pretty. Gameplay bugs don't impact it, broken mechanics don't impact it, Frontier's underwhelming QA process doesn't impact it. One may grumble at the quality of some paintjobs (those wobbly lines...) but since you can preview every paintjob both in-game and in the store one must assume the quality is good enough if you decide to buy it.

Frontier is a game company, it is in the business of doing money by offering its products to the free market . If you want a product they are selling and feel like the price is right, you buy it. If you don't want, you don't buy it. And that's it really, there is no question of punishing or rewarding or being gullible when it comes to their paintjobs. You are not supposed to become so emotionally invested that your decisions regarding their products go beyond that. But clearly you have, and you no longer look at this as a simple value proposition matter. That you would describe buying a paintjob as "giving money for the priviledge of QAing the updates" is the most telling sign. In your mind, people can't be just buying a paintjob, what they are doing is giving money to a game company which did the unforgivable: they failed to meet your expectations.

Yes the game is bugged, and I campaign for Powerplay improvements that FD seem keen on forgetting. But for the bits inbetween I buy stuff I like the look of. I like my spiky orange Krait with pizza box wings, and samurai with skulls Corvette with more spikes.

Don't get me wrong. I must've racked up close to 300 Euros worth of store items now... and there's still some bits I would've bought (the Delacy works team ones are quite interesting, so are the T9 ones that Bigmaec got), and I don't buy items to support anyone, rather than because I like them, I had to force myself to hold off as the last update is actively putting me off playing the game right now. And what's the point of buying full-priced store items if you're not enjoying the game atm.

No doubt will I revisit the store again once these issues are addressed, at least the worst ones. Until then, wallet's closed.

Tldr. But if you want to hand out money for rubbish implementations of updates go for it. But I'm still going to laugh and think you soft for doing so. If that bothers you....so?

🤫 And I'll be judging your judgement.

You're going to judge what I'm telling you is in my head? Have you got some form of psychic ability? I'm going to pull rank on this one - I know my thoughts and motivations rather better than you.

Rubbish stuff can sell as well, if marketed well. There's quite a known 'thing' about people continually buying rubbish because of how it's sold to them, especially without a tangible competitor. Each to their own I guess, but my view is it's an indication of being easily strung along.

Tell you what- if FDev manage ONE update that isn't riddled with bugs and massively complained about by players I'll buy a paintjob.

I stopped buying paint about a year ago, with the one exception of a Midnight Black for my Conda (which I had to wait for). It's funny to watch everyone in the aftermath of the April update, because I've been dealing with this crap on PS4 ever since our first major update, version 2.4. Everybody be like, "Why you so upset, Duck?" Now you know. Welcome to the party! 🎉

What on Earth happened in April? Aftermath? Of what?
I stopped playing a few months back after I overestimated my enthusiasm and sent my commander out on the Distant Worlds mission... My previous commander had already completed a 300 Kylie trip around the outer rim back in 2016 to avoid the Engineers incoming so he was quite bored by the time he reached the Core.

It appears I've missed another by stepping away...

Thargoid attack? Ship sent to a locked region? Patch Bugs? Server problems?
What happened this time?
