Not needed, but thanks old friend. If you're taking requests, how about writing a post with a bit of substance to it for a change? That would be refreshing![]()
Things you disagree with or infer inaccurately don't "lack substance".

Whilst everyone has a right to point out flaws and issues with the game, otherwise how will the developers know these problems exist, I do think people should think first about how they go about conveying them.
A well reasoned post with facts is more likely to be read thoroughly and acted upon than posts with comments like "The developers are incompetent", "The developers don't what they are doing" etc. Just think about how you want to be treated when spoken to when writing a post pointing out a problem with the game.
Sorry, couldn't resistThis one is hilarious
I'm a little bit of a dev myself, and if I was told I could make up for my perceive lack of engagement by talking to my customers, I would flip them ainstead.
Devs working in the gaming industry don't build what they want, nor what their customers want. Yet they do take the blame for everything that makes it to production. No wonder they are behind closed doors and you never see them around here.
Well that's why they have community managers. Thing is, if you look at http://www.elitedevtracker.com and filter for twitter you'll either get praise for the game or completely unrelated posts. If you filter for the forums you'll usually get 5-7 posts per week, even when the forums are burning.
Don't get me wrong, I am sure the CM team is doing a pretty good job at the stuff they are being told to do, like creating live streams and hype the game in social media. They also seem like very nice people. I'd just wish they would communicate more about the actual game (and the problems that come with it).
Why can't we be a witty tinfoiling group again?
Reason I ask them to do that is I am getting fed up of all the salt and want something to neutralise it. Yes this might sound like a click-baity title, but it is genuinely frustrating to come in here and see nothing but vitriol and salt.
Grrr... now I'll have to take a look... thanks
Yep, as soon as people asking "why don't they talk to us" say things like "they should grow thicker skins" or "they clearly don't play their own game" they've answered their own question.
I suppose it depends on your interptetation of competent? Some would insist it was a 'dyed-in-the-wool' PvP'er, others a trader, others yet a PP/BGS player, or even an explorer, forgive any other 'disciplines I may have missed.Seems like the best response to the last criticism would be to have somebody from FDev on a livestream who can play the game competently.
I've always though it'd make livestreams a more informative experience if they could reliably demonstrate the things they're talking about and it'd allow Will to make a better job of presenting the streams and interviewing the guests.
At the end of the day, if there's somebody who works as, say, a coder who is a competent ED player, having to pay them a couple of hours overtime in order to participate in a stream shouldn't be a big deal for a company who, apparently, think it's worthwhile to employ people like Will and Sally in a full-time role.

It is way too easy to criticise those who do not do things in a way we do, so to be able to fulfil such a role may be a little difficult![]()
So - a straw-man because I questioned something?Nah, that's a straw-man.
Somebody who's a competent ED player will be familiar enough with every aspect of the game to avoid making rookie errors, at least.
If FDev don't have somebody (or, hopefully, multiple somebodies) on the staff who meet that standard, I'd say the whole "don't play their own game" thing IS actually a valid criticism and concern.
Steve Kirby can play well, I think designer Adam and Dav can as well (the rest of em scream we're only here because we're getting paid can't wait to get to the pub).

Incorrect - my comment indicated that there are too many interpretations over competent with regard to the way any individual player considers play. I did not disagree with the concept, which is excellentNo.
A straw-man because you tried to refute the suggestion that a competent ED player should be involved by suggesting that a competent person might no BE a competent person and that being competent is a subjective thing.
