Is Power management broken with the latest patch?

Hello fellow Commanders!

I have had several times now where my Python, despite setting a bunch of modules to prio 5, forgets these settings and when I deploy hardpoints, everything turns off. I have been in the same game session and not done any refitting after the initial setup, and it seems to loose the settings upon jumping.

I wonder if anyone else experience this?

A few times now since the update, I've logged in and had to reorganise my pips because they reset to 2-2-2. Fairly sure this wasn't happening before the update.

It's good to see that Frontier is adressing this issue among others.

However, I am wondering how something crucial like a power management issue seems to completely slip QA and the beta?

Yeah. Today I hopped into my Mamba and almost immediately spotted a wanted commander. Deploy my weapons after the interdiction and bam! Power limit exceeded. Got blown up real good.

Up through the years there has been a few bugs that has had me go "really, Fdev, this got past you?"
A 5 minute playtest would have caught this priority bug. Heck, it took me 1 minute of playtime to realise. Love the game, love Fdev for the game, but come on, do your job (cause, really, it's your job)

MDH

It's fine if you never leave your particular instance... I nearly lost my Courier (the only ship I fly which needs power management) yesterday when the priorities flipped after interdicting a 'wanted' NPC - I had some hull remaining when I could boost and run after a quick shuffle.

Sorry, but it is not actually that simple. My priorities seem to stick for quite a while on my ships that aren't fitted with any weapons. The priorities on my exploration Asp stuck through 3 logouts and about 70 jumps returning from the Jellyfish Nebulae, for example.

But on any ships where I deploy hardpoints frequently, the priorities go foobar every single time I go into supercruise. I've been doing CZ's for the past few days and haven't left the system I am in for a few days, and yet the power priorities get reset every time I supercruise, without exception.

For me, at least, whether or not I am deploying hard points...or perhaps even whether anything is fitted to those hardpoints....is key in how badly and quickly priorities get messed up. Instance has 0 to do with it (at least for me).

Sorry, the comment was a bit flippant - but you are correct - deploy hardpoints after supercruise and they get flipped!
I'd not noticed it until yesterday as my normal ships are overengineered so no management actually required.

There was no beta.

QA likely never set up a ship that required module priorities, and the coders probably never did anything directly to do with priorities - so why would it need testing? there are a LOT of features in the game to test. I mean, sure, it should probably have been found, but I can see how something that might not directly affect a tester, unless they set up their ship in a fairly specific way could slip past.

Hahah, same here regarding it not really being an issue for most of my ships. But...I know it's happening, so I can't help but to look and get annoyed even when it doesn't really matter. Sad...but true.

Ah. Then it almost makes sense. A lab test where devs and testers set up the game specifically to test new features is unlikely to reveal such a bug. However, the changes made by the recent update are obviously non-trivial and go deep enough to justify a field test.
