Dude. It's not that hard. You can't control what FDEV does to the game. You can control how well you prepare for what's possible in the game.

Perfect is the enemy of good. Surely you understand this?
So ...

We've established you understood there are players not interested in combat or grinding and practising for combat evasion.

If the solution for these players is preparing for combat evasion in an event geared towards exploration, in a Private Group that doesn't allow PvP, that's not really a solution. The measures that are currently in place work better thsn that.

Folks are ultimately welcome to do whatever they so please - I ain't anybody's daddy. However, if they choose not to listen to reason and suffer the consequences that's on them. In the context of a computer game there will be no sympathy from me.

Get good or get rebuy'd, man.

This has been the thing that's come along every time some measure of anti-griefing or effective C&P or whatever has ever been mooted. "But gankers will still be able to gank so we shouldn't do that! What about station ramming or loitering or pad hogging or this or that or whatever or the other thing or-"
Even solutions that would work for 99% of PvE players 99% of the time get shot down because of the 1% of times where it isn't foolproof.

These folks don't know what they're talking about. Clear as day.

How are you going to protect 12,000 players across all those instances?

Like pretending you can protect 12,000 players?

That kind of naive? :)

Or trust a ganker to be security instead of ejecting him? That kind of naive?
You start by understanding that you do not need to protect 12000 people in x amount of instances. That's just a false premise propagated by players with no (or very limited) combat experience.

And I'd say another example of folks who aren't interested in the health of Elite but whatever game they think they're playing.

Folks shouldn't bother increasing their skill in the game, and perhaps learning some lessons they can apply elsewhere, because FDEV will fix everything for them?

Look, FDEV can do what it wants, but that's super lame and you should feel ashamed for promoting it like you do.
I can live with that.

It's a suitable response to going into the PG with the intent of killing CMDRs.

It seems to me you're more interested in upsetting people than actually improving the health of the game and the community around it.

If you do care about the game, then my thought was dead on the money.
Tell me how it's detrimental to the game to have ganked CMDRs restored in an event held in a private PvE group.

edit: I'll make a case how it's good for the game.
It opens up the event to more people. What you propose is still possible to those who are into that kind of thing, like Morbad or Ziljan. That's the way they like to play and all power to them. And for that matter, kudos to those who assist them with advice.

It closes the event for people like me who are extremely bored by combat, having to run from players when they opted to play in a PvE environment. Some people like the thrill of the interdiction, for me it's time I have to endure until I'm at the rebuy screen and can continue playing. Read that last part: can continue playing. I do not want to git gud, because I do not enjoy the thing I am supposed to git gud at. And when playing a game, I am supposed to enjoy myself.

So the consequences are minor.
That makes all the salt and hand wringing seem pretty childish.
I agree.

People are acting as if restoring a few CMDRs is this game's doom. I even need to be ashamed of myself when bringing it up.

Oh well.... ganker gets his kill, explorer doesn't lose his progress. Win win. It's all good :)
