Many of you know I've only been playing for about a month now(Almost): I took a lot of time picking out what would be my Main ship- Type 7 Transport. I studied all the ships that was close to what I could afford after only 2 weeks in the game. It took everything I had to Purchase/Configure it the way I wanted it for Trading/Boom Mission/Mining, after the April upgrade/Patch FDev changed the way mining was done and added the Seismic charges to make it possible to make Cr's mining. Problem: The Seismic charges are Hardpoint size #2, all 4 hard points on the T7 are all #1's. Nullifying all the research I did in picking the T7. Is this an oversight on FDev's part? I mean the T7 is the smallest of the LARGE ships- LARGE SHIPS! why does it only have size 1 hard points? I am pretty sure they are NOT going to change the T7 but perhaps they can give a size 1 seismic charge?
Now for the part that has me wondering about this game altogether: I again researched the next ship to purchase and decided on the Federal Assault Ship. Here I am using the sponsored site of FDev the EDDB to find a 5D Hanger, I have been going down that list for 2 days now and none of the locations have it! NONE!
I mean I understand researching to find the place that you can get the best deal- just like when you buy a new car but you after buying a new car, you don't have to take it to another city to get a radio put in and then go to another country(over and over again) just to get a moon roof installed- I mean am I on a Freakin Easter Egg hunt here or what?!?
This is so RIDICULES. For 2 days I have not been able to do anything else but search, search, search I mean come on enough already! Is this really part of the game or what?
The Type 7 is a trading ship with close to none combat abilities. Of course it has crappy hardpoints. It's not a fighter, not a miner, it's just a big, flyable box.
Elite doesn't take you by the hand, and as you already said, you did your research, but I can't really imagine how you got no usable information out of it.
When going from station to station ingame, taking a look at the shipyard would already tell you which hardpoints are available on ships you can buy.
When looking online, the search term "best cheap mining ship" got me places already without specially looking for anything.
No matter how many helpful and user friendly things are being added to the game, it still remains complex with a very steep learning curve, and with one month in you didn't even scratch the surface, which is just normal.
Try this to build your ship without purchasing it:

I'd try an Asp Explorer for mining if you want it cheap. Big doesn't mean it's better for everything, and the T7 just has a lot of space because... it's a freaking trading ship. Not an alrounder, not a combat ship. A trader.
The AspX has enough cargo space, hardpoints and module space to build a nice little miner and can also land on medium pads. Apart from that: stellar jump range and a great ship in any way. If you have the cash and really want to do some serious mining, I'd say go for a Python.
