Can't exit game

Hey all,
Since the latest update, (I think it was today) I can't seem to exit to the desktop. When I try, the screen just hangs. I can Alt-Tab out to another window, but the only way I can "exit" is to use task manager to kill the game. Anyone else experiencing this? I play the game way to much to have to be killing the process/application every time I want to exit.

It happens occasionally, for no good reason in my experience, throughout the life of the game. Just kill it using task manager.

If, however, it seems to be a regular feature, you might wish to close your computer down for about a minute and then restart it, in case some stray digits have crept in to corrupt it.

One isn't supposed to exit the game. Elite: Dangerous is life.

I've noticed since 23rd April update, that it's taking much longer to get back to desktop, when exiting.

Sometimes it can be 2-3 minutes, sometimes I get bored & kill it with task manager!

Happens to me once in a while as well, although it's quite rare.

Mostly after long sessions, Quit to Menu occasionally just produces a black screen and.... nothing happens.
So in a sense, then I have to "Exit-game-log" and task-kill it (Windows will then denote that the task fails to respond and needs to be forcefully terminated).

Just for clarification talking about everyday/random positions, i.e. during Exporation and entirely unrelated to combat

...before the pitchforks come out, this is a joke, I don't do Open mode, I never CLog, 'cos I don't do pewpew, never have, never will. All my sudden disconnects are due to the instability of the game servers!

Same here. Needed to task kill on the last two times I played. Yesterday and today.

Me also. Have to Windows Key to desktop, close ED Executable with Taskmanager, otherwise black screen of death.

I have the same issue if I select "exit to desktop" while in the game, but if I select "Exit to Menu" and from the menu then exit the game from the menu, it exits fine.

For me, it started after the patch last week (not the one this week), there's an issue tracker for it with several people having confirmed already.
