Does suicidewinder method still works for return from Colonia?
Any disadvantages except of ship transfer cost?

The ship transfer cost shouldn’t be too excessive as your in bubble ships shouldn’t be that far away from your new location. Unless you have something like legacy god rolled modules on the ship you are leaving in Colonia there is no need to bring it back as you could replicate it in the bubble if required.

I definitely try to keep my R/L insurance claims at 0, but in game, I try to relax and abuse the system.

The usual. You see a rebuy screen. You can opt (provided you have the insurance money) to either respawn in your old ship/loadout at your last port of call (that has a shipyard), or in a basic Sidey in the starter systems.
So, no shortcut to Colonia that way.

But if you want a shortcut, Factabulous has scouted out a prison express (commit a crime, hand yourself in or - more likely - get killed and respawn at the nearest prison ship, which may be quite a bit closer to Colonia than your current position). Google "Colonia Prison taxi".
