The bizarrely arbitrary nature of landing pad sizes

Ever notice how you can land on a medium pad, then buy a large ship from the station where you are docked?

Yup. Getting my free Anaconda from Hutton Orbital was quite a shock.

Meanwhile, in real life I once landed at Frankfurt in a tiny Embraer and left on an A380. It was almost as if there were two different runways.

I know, right? Ships can't move on their own! There'd have to be some kind of little thing inside the ship that gets out and makes a different ship start moving!
