Frontier, you need to hire this group and put them in charge of cockpit UI.

That's why it is big companies that are doing it (Oculus wouldn't have survived if Facebook hadn't bought it).
Only speculations here, Oculus started from kickstarter too.
The reason why Facebook is still financing is because they have a good income. You know, they're not the kind of company that gives money for free..

HTC, HP, Samsung... All are shipping or will start shipping new versions soon.

It's still very early days for VR, and the devices are stupidly expensive (when you take into account the machine and everything else required). When that changes, I doubt VR will be niche at all.
I'd argue that we're well past the "very early days for VR": even the current iteration of the technology is several years old. The very early years were 2013-2014, when the only customers yet were those who managed to get the Rift development kits. But the commercial launch of the Rift was a bit over three years ago, which in IT is quite some time.

VR seems here to stay (for a while, at least), but it is still a niche. As you said, the hardware is far too expensive for mainstream usage, but there's also that there aren't many mainstream games for it either. This is just anecdote, but I know a few people who said that they would like to buy a VR helmet, if there were AAA games designed for them. So it's an issue not just of hardware, but of software as well.
This is just talking about games (so, entertainment), mind.

No, I meant to write exactly what I wrote which is why I wrote it.

Yes,
So the 'We' you referred to was a limited 'we'... simply you and perhaps someone else... not me and certainly not the OP and some of the other posters that agree that possible improvements to the Cockpit would be nice!
Not really sure why you bother to poor cold water over a topic that has little chance of fruition.

You're misunderstanding Crank, I think.

My reading is that Crank is saying that while we don't NEED cockpit customization, but we do want it.

Because I clearly wanted to attract the attentions of a pedant. ;)

And to be clear, I am not bothered either way. There are many things I'd prefer first, but I certainly wouldn't object to such a feature.

Yeah, yeah... tell it to your earlier posts

I've just checked through them all. I'm quite happy with what all of them say. No need to tell them anything. Though it seems I should add an explanation to them as some people are finding them difficult to understand... But sorry, I can't be bothered.
